Hardware & Technical Your Game System Spec

AMD A8-3800 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
12gb RAM
2 TB Hard drive
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
NVIDIA GeForce GT 530 2gb
Samsung SMSA350 monitor

Depending on how the alpha works that will dictate whether I buy a new pc or upgrade the gfx card... Not gonna bother until december, don't really play much on the pc apart from glffe or Winuae and FE2... I mainly stick to Xbox 360...

I've got a half decent quad core machine with 8gb ram. Graphics card is only a GT430 so it definitely needs upping by the time the first round of betas come through (which I upped my pledge to in the end). I'd like to enjoy this game with a reasonable amount of shinyness to it considering it's been a bit of a wait ;)

system specs

We work with whatever we can find.
If Dangerous can run on a raspberry pi, that's my first preference for running my scout trader account on full HD.
Next is my online quarantine PC; this old linux box with 512 MB ram and a single cpu, older graphics card, and not a lot of everything else.
If necessary, I could run it on an i5 2400 with duel screen and newish midrange graphics card.
If I were asked to ssh to another raspberry pi to contribute some AI ships to the galaxy, that would use the least Watts of power to do so. If they were mostly in the same neighbourhood as me then ethernet and global power use could be minimised.
If there is fancier graphics for people who have the money for latest hardware, that's fine by me so long as I can skip that bloat and run with a good framerate and no impairments on something which I've got.

I would post my full system spec here but it's far from finished so the core of it is this:

AMD Bulldozer FX-8 8150 8 Core 3.6Ghz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache
Asus Crosshair V Formula AMD 990FX AM3+ Motherboard
16GB ram, 2 x 120 SSD's in RAID 0 for the OS & 2 TB data drive.

my cat managed to blow the PSU (dont ask) so i'm replacing that and installing 2 x 78950's in crossfire mode as soon as i can afford it.

main monitor is a 25" widescreen full HD and I have a 40" LED TV i use for media output.

I plan on adding at least another 2 x 22" TFT's to the setup before the second beta so i can evaluate the multi screen option of the game (cash permitting)

stuck on my duel core laptop atm and its sooooo slow

My system was a new build in Aug 2012. Was hoping to use it for testing virtual networks and gaming... but I've only done the latter so far. :D

My Specifications:
Intel Core i7 3770k
Corsair Vengence 16GB DDR3 Memory
Nvidia GTX 660TI
Asus Xonar D2x Audio Card
64GB Crucial M4 mSata SSD + 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 (using Intel Smart Response Technology)

Just ordered this! I think it will just about do the job :p

Power Supply: EZCool 650W 12cm Fan Blue LED Power Supply
Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K 6MB Cache Socket 1155
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Achilles CPU Cooler
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2048MB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card
Memory: 8GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz C9 Dual Channel Memory Kit (2 x 4GB)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) Motherboard
Hard Disk Drive One: OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SATA III Solid State Drive

Junglebiscuit, that looks like a nice system with one very important exception...

Please PLEASE buy a quality PSU, I implore you. A cheap no-brand PSU rarely delivers the promised performance and is vastly more likely to fail. When a PSU fails there is a strong chance of it causing significant damage to the rest of your hardware.

Since you've shelled out for good quality components elsewhere in the system PLEASE consider investing similarly in your power supply.

Look at products from Enermax, BeQuiet, Seasonic, OCZ, Zalman, Akasa, XFX just to name a few.

You'll pay quite a lot more than the ~£30 that the EZcool costs (I would expect ~£90 upwards) but it's a critical system component that is often overlooked!

I only bought my current machine to play WoW that was a year ago... (my machine before could only manage low quality at 30 fps, but it was only used for emulation). Spent about £800 on the desktop, off the peg job... Can't be bothered to build myself anymore...

I will probably leave it to the last minute to buy a new one, of course the longer you leave it the better you can buy, spending about £1000 this time.

I can personally recommend beQuiet. I've got one of the models with modular cabling, and it's very neat and virtually silent. The only worry I have is that I've got the fan pointing upwards into the case, and there's not really a functional grille to stop things (screws) falling into the unit while I'm working inside. I have to remember to either turn the PC case on its side, or put something over the PSU as a cover.

I don't have a PC at the moment, and the basic Macbook I have at the moment is close to death.

Considering one of these

that's about as far as my budget will stretch unfortunately. Laptop is the only option for me due to lack of space / small children and cats with curious fingers and teeth.

Will that do the job do you think?

The stats on the web show that the GT640 should be ok on low to medium settings on many modern games and ED did say scalable so I would guess GT640 is ok. I have installed a GT650 which is similar.

I'm of the spend once big and wait 5-10 years to spend once big again type of guys. And sadly for my wallet i near the end of my cycle again.

Atm i have:

Grafic's: Gainward NIVIDA GTX295
CPU: Intel Q9550 @ 2.83
RAM: 8 gig Think is corsair
Mainboard: Asus P5Q

Since gamedevelopers concentrated their efforts on Koncoles the demand's of games stagnated. The nex generation is overdue to get the power demand flowing again.
So looking at game titels of today is not realy something to judge the power of your system. Just look at the outcry of all those crisys fan's where 2 looked worse than 1. The developer focused more on the konsole than pc as a platform.

Sure there are some exceptions to the rule but mostly the grafiks where held back by the konsole market.

I realy need to upgrade my system :/

Oh and i got several blue lights and fans that light blue too. And a big window to check if everything is still there!

- Intel Core i5 2500k@4.0GHz
- Intel DZ68DB, 16GB RAM
- 1TB Caviar Green
- Radeon 7750
- Dell 2312hm monitor (IPS, 1080p)

All on a CoolerMaster Elite case with a CoolerMaster "Extreme Power Plus" 390W power supply, leftovers from my previous build.

The machine was assembled with good advanced Photoshop performance in mind for my wife, and gaming as a secondary goal; however, it's been more than enough for everything I've thrown at it.

PS: Somebody said having >8GB was overkill. Well, my work machine has 128GB of RAM, and it's not even close to being enough... It all depends on what you do with your machine. When you need to visualise multiple 10GB+ data volumes at once (and extract new data volumes from that), your RAM gets very full very fast...

I was planning on buying a new pc when the game comes out, but unfortunately my laptop just died so was forced to buy a new one now. I'm hoping the cheap i3 desktop I bought plus an upgrade upon release to a half-decent video card (and psu if necessary) will be enough..

You're happy with W8 ? how is STEAM on this ?

I run Windows 8. I think it's great. I've never liked the startmenu anyway... so good riddance. Not that the startscreen is much better... But at least it gives me information through live tiles.... the old startmenu was just totally pointless. Never used it at all.

Anyway. Steams works fine. I only used it for playing World of Tanks (for about 6 minutes... god what an awful game.) and UFO: Enemy Unknown... But at least those work.
