Krait Stats from the Livestream

You don't know what a combat ship is do you?

It's a multi-role and you are waiting for an Explorer ship aren't you?

If that Hull Mass is correct, that makes it 300T heavier than the Python, according to Coriolis.

Explorer sadness, at 38-40, though I'm ok with that.

I think you're looking at total ship mass.

I'm hoping you are right - looked at what was listed in the OP, and compared it to Coriolis, and my own ships in game.

I'm hoping I just read the OP wrong, because the other sources are, obviously, correct.

If someone happens to know the Hull Mass on the Krait, I'd like to know, but I'll find out 10 minutes after I get home from work on Thursday.

As a one ship pilot, this ticks all the boxes for me! It's the first one I'm really looking forward to. I flew a Cobra MkIII up to 2.1, then upgraded to a Python and flew that for a while before uping again to an Anaconda. I play multi-role. A little of everything. I wanted to have a SLF and I've really enjoyed having my NPC pilot along. I think the banter makes the game feel less empty. I've ranked her from Harmless to Expert so far. I just find the Anaconda cumbersome and asthetically an ugly box. I really don't like only being stuck on large pads, and I don't like back mounted cockpits.

The Krait looks like a ship perfect for my play style. I really like the bridge placement. I can't wait to see it in VR (where I'll be able to stand up and walk around, just like they teased in the video)

Yeah, the Krait is basically a larger Cobra with an SLF. I think it's going to be a very popular ship.

I'm thinking it might make for a really good mining ship. Think of the views in the asteroid rings...

I've got a +50ly exploration Krait build ready to engineer on Thursday.

I ran some quick numbers for the Krait based on what we know so far, and I actually think a Krait Explorer fully modded up + an FSD Booster will do well over 50lys range. I have an exploration Python which gets 47lys range now, so a Krait should be able to get around that plus or minus a few, and +10 from a booster and walla!

We'll know in a couple days.

Wasn't the Krait billed as a ship that can go toe to toe with the Python?

In much the same way the chieftain was; not really no. The thing is, if Krait doesn't have python's lamentable dampened handling it might be an interesting option; 3 large, 2 medium with class 7 distro. FDL is still the silky smooth homicidal maniac of a ship so I can't see too many people shifting from the ferrari.. FGS/FAS/FDS drivers tho? Maybe. Depends.

Slow down, tiger. I think people are jumping the gun here. I'm not sure the range potential is what people think it is. I look forward to being shocked that Frontier hasn't shot the krait in the foot for jump range. They didn't clobber either power plant or distro so maybe, maybe the 'design ship' has managed to turn and the changes people have asked for around ship build is finally being realised.

But I know better than to assume. We shall see Thursday.

Did they talk about the maneuverability of the Krait? Will it hopefully turn a bit better than a Python?

Also, I'm assuming the Challenger WILL have SLF capability also! It this true?

It seems that this not being scanned so often is a trait that FD thinks is very important. But I can't remember last time I was scanned in a medium ship... Following very simple rules you can avoid the scan very easily - unless you miss the letterbox.

I don't know it's possible to be worse. Python's flight model is actually dampened entirely at speed and it's handling FA-Off is identical to on. No other ship works like that. Not a single one.

Nope. And nope.

Can be. Depends on what one is doing. ;)
