Are there any time-saving tips for finding planetary POIs via coordinates?

I want to find some geysers I haven't seen yet and pilfer stuff from Thargoid bases. Are there any tricks for quickly finding planetary POIs via coordinates?

Geysers and such like - find passenger missions which take you there directly .... easiest way to find them in my opinion.

Notice how the compass degrees work in orbital cruise. Keep an eye on your altitude. Use the zero angle for faster travel. Keep in mind you will have a glide when approaching the coordinates.

That's from the top of my head.

Which platform do you play on?

On PC there are a number of tools available to assist in navigation to specific surface co-ordinates. I am developing StatusDisplay which can perform this function, among other things.

I would settle for Longitude and Latitude being labeled on the Planetary Flight UI. The values are stacked but not labeled. Having found great difficulty in locating planetary POI's in the past, I could really use some indication which value is which.

Only I can think of is focus on one direction at a time. Always follow ONE of the 4 directions 0 90 180 270 until you get to the first value of the coordinate. Then do a 90 degree from there and go straight line to your target.
I'm pretty horrible at it. And even worse at explaining [haha]

I'd personally be thrilled if you could mouse over the planet in the system view, and see the lat-long, so you can figure out the heading and fly directly to the point...then letting you add a POI bookmark to the coordinates AFTER you've arrived. I have a couple baseplate compasses with 0-360 degree markings, and I'd love using it to find POIs (using a physical baseplate compass to find POIs would feel pretty hardcore and add to the immersion).

Short answer...not really. But what a great time for me to complain once again that Horizons should never have gone live without a proper coord bookmarking system (sorry, but this one little QoL detail missing from the game BLOWS MY MIND everytime). /rant

Wait till we get Legs and you find you have been walking in the opposite direction for several hours

0= north, 90= east, 180= south and 270= west...pretty simple. An easy solution would be to add a tear-drop shape for the location marker, pointing at what direction you're facing.

First you need to understand the coordinate system. Starting at zero lat/long North is heading zero and latitude increases. South is heading 180 and latitude decreases. East is heading 90 and longitude increases. West is heading 270 and longitude decreases. The North Pole is at latitude +90 and the South Pole is at latitude -90. Longitude ranges between -180 and +180. Just like here on Earth in real life.

My recommendation is to get to the correct longitude first, then turn and find the correct latitude. Doing it in that order means you're flying straight lines both times. If you did latitude first, you'd have to fly a curved course to maintain that latitude while finding the longitude.

After a while you'll get a feel for how it works and can start cutting corners (literally).

Also, keep flying between the OC and DROP altitudes. The higher you are the faster you'll go. Remember that the surface curves away from you and your altitude will tend to increase unless you keep pushing your ship's nose down.

It maybe coming in the Q4 update, it is on the list. Sandro said in a live stream that he wasn't sure if was coming in Q4 or a later update. Hopefully Q4.

To be accurate, Sandro said during that one livestream that they'd like to do it someday, but it isn't planned for the Beyond updates and will likely not be in Q4.

I'd love to see it, but let's not spread false hope.
