I think it's time for a new SRV

I want an EVA as a new type of SRV. Everyone assumes "space legs" means Star Citizen, but I'd be very happy to climb in a suit like I would climb in an SRV and walk around places I would normally drive around. This would require minimal programming on Frontier's part, since they'd basically be adapting existing SRV and Holome code. I'm pretty sure walking / running physics would actually be easier to implement than a fast SRV with shock-absorbers.

Do not underestimate the desire and enjoyment of walking around a Guardian Ruin, or jetpacking up to the top our Anaconda and walking around on the "deck", or taking selfies with other player around a "campfire" (fumeroles).

An EVA suit could have a heads-up display similar to SRV (think Iron Man), a jetpack, even a hand-held mining laser for gathering materials and charging Guardian Pylons. Oh, and a data scanner. In other words, it would be just as easy to add to the game as any other new SRV type IMO.

I'd also request that EVA suit be usable without an SRV hangar. I'm not saying it replace the SRV entirely, as walking / running is slow, nor could we carry 1 ton cargo canisters on our back (unless we have thruster sled to put them on).

Yes we need urgently new/news srv if the hangar door is the problem one of the new srv could be a heavy one either combat or other purposes and used only on the hangar door on slf ships and a "normal" small with different purpose and four pair of wheels that deployed.. Anyway we need more.,as a single srv for the entire horizon content is dire... Empty.

I'd be happy to have the SRV released from 20ft above the surface, and use SRV thrusters to control descent.
The ship would auto-dismiss itself leaving you to muck about on the surface doing whatever.
When it comes time to leave, you recall your ship. The ship hovers 20ft from the surface again, but emits a docking light pattern (similar to those seen on approach to landing pads, or the docking channel for an SLF). The central scanner could show an overhead camera output as seen from the SRV bay, and then you'd use thrusters to launch yourself up to the bay. Once you are within range you'd automatically be caught in a docking web and brought aboard (in a similar way to when you are surface landed). There could even be a mini-game where you'd use manoeuvring thrusters on approach to the bay to keep alignment. The gravity of the particular world could cause issues as you may drift about more on low-g worlds, but you'd need more thrust on high-g worlds.
Just a thought.

Pretty sure EVERYONE wants anew SRV. Or at least a lot more diversity with it. It's been suggested MANY times with surprisingly little notice or acknowledgment from Fdev. People have suggested commonly (including me) big, tank treaded haulage vehicles for long operations and salvage collection (and the possibility of an outcrop buster railgun on top), Ultra fast armed machines with a low profile to prevent tipping (maybe even with a rear booster to further boost speed!) for short range rapid assaults on facilities. and perhaps the most suggested.. tanks in general!

No matter, the conclusion is basic. the majority of players want to have freedom of choice when it comes to planetary navigation!

The materials collector EVA suit is a nice idea, maybe something more like a chair with no cargo space than a suit though?
More cargo space is definitely needed for the wheeled/tracked vehicles.
Either way, something with a bit of grip, sliding 180° every 10 seconds when driving above 20m/s is not fun.

All those idea but to hell a response corvette combat ships deployed on surface only a srv is joke is that all the military in one thousand year able to afford come on.

Yeah, but all they have to do is transition those wheels out and lower profile and we have a workable build! ;)

Yep. They kind of dug a hole with the srv loading/unloading. I'm not sure how they'll get around that. Maybe a new bigger ship could have a ramp :)
I think that FD originally only intended for the bigger ships to have any srv capability, IIRC they had to extend the legs of the eagle and some others?
But of course it's a cool addition and they probably didn't want people to miss out!
I'd like to see a range of srvs one day. Especially as* the planet tech improves.

I think a more armored version of the scarab would be pretty easy to add using the existing ship hangers. In addition maybe the ships that can lunch fighters could fit a full size tank in their larger hangers.

My word I want a tank, with these prerequisites;

1, heavy Armor and shields!

2, A railgun main cannon (for fast, 0% bullet drop, highly accurate and damaging plinky plinky!!!) :D

3. A secondary weapon like a plasma repeater for hitting small targets.

if we had this, I would launch a full assault on the Thargoid/ guardian bases...no alien scum will survive!!!

or could be used for a ground assault on a small outpost after a successful power grid sabotage mission. Maybe even include a troop transport tank used to "capture" structures by dropping off marines.

If we had that, then the Skimmer / base assault missions would be too easy and it would affect the Cr/hr limit envisioned by FD.

FD would need to boost the ground base defenses and then balance everything out and that is too much work compared just making a new surface vehicle (or copy-pasting an existing ship)

I am an Elite member of the Pilot's Federation - I am frickin CHUCK NORRIS - base assault should be easy. Those skimmers should blow up by me just flashing a smile in their direction :D
