Worm hole

Why move this thread?
Where's it moved to?

Into the suggestion blackhole, where topics like this belong.

One day my suggestion for unicorn shaped space stations will be a thing, I can feel it in my plums..

The main bone of contention is a wormhole makes a mockery of the time and effort it takes to reach the core.

I used to have a worm farm, from my experience the holes they make are both very very small and tend to collapse almost immediately. Even in the core of the farm.

The somewhat provocative tone in the OP aside, I've often wondered how many developer-days of design, coding, testing, etc, went into HoloMe (which is, after all, a mini-game of dressing up dollies).

I've also wondered what would have been better served by spending that effort on something more related to the core game. My conclusion: pretty much anything.

The better idea is using the Search feature about other Wormhole ideas. When David Braben talks about Wormhole he did not want to split the galaxy into sections. So no go on wormholes

Why would it?

I think anything interesting, rare and hard to find would be fun. Wormholes could be random, moving their end points from time to time, opening and closing up random;y, leading to different areas of the galaxy and, yes able to strand or even kill a cmdr who flys unprepared into it. It could take probes to feedback limited data on where it leads and discovering one could be great for expolorers.
I see no reason not to just put this feature in, as all the mechanics are already there, then let it be discovered organically.

And hey... Thats all nice and neat, but unless a base appears near Sag A, I have zero interest in being there unless my path takes me near it (300ly or less). All it is, is a black hole in which has already been explored (I'd hope anyways).

I know some people take enjoyment in the sense of accomplishment it takes to not to slam your head into a keyboard after repeatedly spamming J and droning out to lights, but my take is this; if your sense of achievement comes from the end of pain and misery by reaching a place then by actually visiting the place, there is probably a design problem in that.

But again... shortening travel time does not preclude you from lengthening it...

Except when you investigate another worm hole and it drops you 20,000ly away, and you don't have a scoop. Not such an improvement then. :p

Also, cosplay cmdr .. lol.
Also also, freedom of speech isn't quite as free as you think it is. You are still bound by the rules.
As for the rest of it.. not worth addressing, TBH.

if it's a stable wormhole it should allow two way travel, however if it's unstable then it could drop you ANYWHERE including inside a planet lol

I for one would have welcomed wormholes and hope one day they might appear however having explored a fair bit and got me name on stuff I can see why they haven't. Imagine our exploration percentage if we jump about everywhere.
