There is change and there is bait and switch. I never would have KSed the game to even close to the level I did had it not been for the modes and knowing direct PvP was entirely optional.
That said FD have seemingly benched some features inhold dearly and added ones I don't care about so I suppose one can never be certain.
And maybe iracing will get burnout style take downs , and super Mario will get an X rated version with princess peach..... Maybe I should go and ask on their forums for those things![]()
Literally everything about the game you bought changed this year. Think about that for a minute. The whole game was rewritten.
Now look at the changes they made.
They could easily flip the switch to open only in all aspects of the game. And it would work.
It is if your in a player based faction playing the BGS against another playing the BGS. However many like me play the BGS with the npc factions no where near any player made factions thus we do worry about that stuff.
Well by that reasoning, since they said it's ok to kill anyone at any time for no reason at all, then it stands to reason they ought to provide for a way to do that.
They have used the word "force" after all.
On the contrary, Frontier have provided two modes for players to play in when they don't want to be content for other players - or simply don't find playing with others to be "fun".
Where did they use "force" in this context?
making them "choose" to play as they themselves have chosen to play
The reality is the incorrect people are being blown up.
Damn the kickstarter, Damn the way it came out of the box.
The games evolved. Its way past that now. And the new things they added should be balanced. Especially if its built around the multiplayer aspect.
I literally dont care about what we had then. I am looking at what we have now and have had for quite sometime.
Its inevitable. I cant stress this enough.
Its like the medical marijuana legaliziation across the world.
YOU CANT STOP THIS.
Id much rather be in the game than here. Id like to face my enemies at the very least.
Why is this such a taboo topic? This really is not much to ask. And these people are acting like I killed their babies.
This place is nuts.![]()
That's most likely what's going to happen. Megaship scenarios are for PvE and roleplay-PvP only. If you are trying to impact the BGS you will NOT engage with other players.
That was a USS, not a "real" megaship. Those spawn at random, so i would imagine that helping either faction does as much to the BGS as a single mission.
It's a bit inconvenient that Frontier's latest statement regarding the BGS is the same, in meaning, as their first (in November 2012) - as that does not seem to support the "the games evolved" statement in this context.
Only Frontier can change it - and, up to now, they have not - despite about six years of "it's not fair to my play-style" complaints from players who choose to engage in an entirely optional play-style and are themselves optional in terms of other players' gameplay.
To be clear, this is the context I am referring to
and not anything to do with BGS, modes etc. per se.
Like I said. The minute they release these changes and people settle and learn what the BGS is about.
Threads like this are going to spread like wildfire.
Its almost as if they redesigned the game this way. And almost every time major changes comes up the community wants it.
Not bad social engineering on their part if I do say so myself.
However they should just save the heartache. Its been going on for years already. No reason to drag it out any longer. They should just do it right the first time with the new changes. Thats it.
Not sure where you are going with this - players cannot force other players to engage in PvP.
What do you make of point #2 and #5?
Simple - choose the mode that best suits your preferred game experience. There's nothing "special" about Open, after all (other than its unlimited population).
Second paragraph of #4 is on point too.
Wait a second, are you seriously just going to ignore the part where they used "force" in reference to another CMDR and PVP, in contrast to what you just posted?
They said exactly the opposite of what you just wrote.
How do you force a player to initiate PvP combat? (as that was the context of the CS response)
What are the pre-requisites for such a situation?
How many choices did each player require to make to get into the situation?
