Hardware & Technical how and where to find Joystick supports for chairs...

Hi there...

My home-cockpit-build is still ongoing (it's somewhere in the SHOW US YOUR SETUP thread). Trying to make it as practical AND comfortable as it only can get. It should be an easy setup for racing games, and everything what's fly-able, ELITE included.

Now so far the 3x32" setup is all up and running.
Last time I tested (electric model) a super comfortable and modulable chair ( http://www.himolla.com/cms/uploads/tx_sensusslidingimages/7879_DE2013.pdf ).
Now, for the driving wheel (the old red good momo one :) ) and the pedals, I got an idea how to deal with, will be an 'extractable' wall (home- ) mount ... but the joystick and throttle (TM warthog) should be left and right of the seat. The desk will disapear completely. The keybord and mouse should also have a place somewhere on a retractable arm support or what ever.

What would you do? Any ideas? I already googled alot, and found nice setups, but not an all in one which its what I'm searching.
Not going into Obuttos, neither Emperor's... they're nice, but, they don't get all what I want :D.
So what I need now, is a solution for the arms, joystick supports... I start thinking that they won't fit on the chair I have in mind, they might get fixed onto the ground, just near the chair....

Anyway, any thoughts?

A commander must sit comfortable, no choice :D :D :D

if that is the type of chair you are using then pole mounted vesta brackets would be the perfect fit, been used by several people on the forums already and they are great for mounting a HOTAS too.

at £20 each they are not that cheap but a very effective solution

click the picture to take you to the ebay sale. new, more than 10 available and free P&P

These ones? http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/53943-bracket-pole-mount-vesa-75100-psg02632-pro-signal.html

Are they ridged? Looks the perfect solution for my chair, if they can be locked firmly in position.

Also check out this reddit thread on the Vesa brackets fitted to a chair. There's a single or twin swivel bracket available. The guy at reddit is using sticky-backed velcro for holding his HOTAS to the brackets. His chair looks very cool indeed.

I would like to try something similar to the above, but have a removable pine plank that lies across my lap. The plank would extend 30 cm each side of the chair with velcro on its underside, this would secure to velcro on the Vesa brackets, then have extra velcro stuck on top of plank to secure to underside of HOTAS with its sticky backed velcro.

With this setup I could have my keyboard in the middle, throttle and stick either side and my mouse the other side of stick

I've used the Vesa bracket method and it works great. The only issue I have is it makes my chair quite wide and I'm forever clunking onto my desk. I'm still thinking about making the brackets quick release somehow or other so I can remove them when I'm playing other games that don't need a joystick.

The guy was me and the thread is here if you can get to it.

If not I will get it moved to the hardware forum!

Yeah...I didn't have access to that forum, so got it through reddit. Great work on the chair btw. :)

Cant see from your photo, but are you using a single socket Vesa bracket?

I do work for CPC-Farnell as a Product Manager for PC accessories and gaming so it makes doing this sort of thing much easier.

The entire job was so easy to put together and its still going strong months later.

Check the thread now to see if you can access it
