Open up the game launcher as normal, and then select the option that now says Beta. You will have an upgrade button instead of a play one.. Click that and then wait
As long as you're on PC.

It's getting better with time, i had loads of disconnections at the start of the beta, like always ...

You may need to scroll down a bit for the Beta options to appear.
Right off the bat, why have you changed the comms panel notification sound? Every time someone comes online or goes offline I think someone's trying to talk to me.
It's extremely distracting.

So we can still honk if we want to but we have to press another button to enable it.

Got it... was trying to get the wife to download while I was at work. She didn't see that she needed to scroll down.

Yeah. Three times in just a few minutes. Basically, about 30 seconds of play and then disconnect. I'm going back to standard play and try beta again tomorrow. Perhaps some things have stabilized. The little I've seen, I'm looking forward to 3.3.
I just spent 15 minutes binding things to an insane looking fss menu (which makes zero sense at the moment), and then the next 30 trying to get into Supercruise without it bombing me out after looking promising for a few seconds.

Am I doing something wrong that the game doesn't let me check out the Engineers? Says I have to have Horizons, but I already own that...

From the department of the bleeping obvious but have you both made sure you loaded the Horizons beta as there is one for the other version, I have done this myself before now and have seen posts from others this time who have done it as well.

To activate the Full Spectrum System Scanner, you will need to ensure two controls have been bound correctly:
Options > Controls > Mode Switches > Switch HUD Mode - will show you what default binding has been switch cockpit modes. If you're using a custom binding file, then you will need to set this before you can enter Analysis Mode which activates any scanners fitted to your ship
Options > Controls > Full Spectrum System Scanner > Enter FSS Mode - will show you what default binding has been set to enter FSS. If you're using a custom binding file, then you will need to set this before you can enter the mode
To use the planet probes you must ensure your ship is fitted with a Detailed Surface Scanner. Once fitted, assigned it to a fire group, switch to Analysis Mode, and then hit the fire button it's assigned to. You will also need to be in close proximity to a stellar body. Pressing the fire button once more will fire a probe.
Both of the above modes can only be used at low speed whilst in Super Cruise

I don't seem to be able to move in the probe launch screen. Do I really have to click to launch probe, then click again, then leave the screen, change angle, then repeat?
