As a boardflipper

Heaven forbid, missions might actually become a source of immersive entertainment now, rather than just money dispensers or tools for abusing the BGS.

Next up: fix naval ranking so it's actually enjoyable.

My cousin is a fantastic landscape gardener & botanist, she's designed layouts for the Chelsea flower show as well as worked with well known agricultural organisations to work on crop yield optimization projects, a real master in her line of work.

Since she wasn't allowed to 'turn the page' on the job index, she can only access Amazon courier offers now... Sucks to be her, guess she'll just have to change career and be a courier.

I guess if she could filter and request agricultural work, that may help her, but alas she can't.

Would be nice if they just included a 'Preferred Occupation' status you could change in your ship; Combat, Trader, Scout, etc. that would weight the type of missions you are offered. Choose Scout and get mostly scavenge/data type missions with Combat and Trading mixed in to a degree. Etc. I understand them wanting to remove the ability to just do the same exact thing over and over, but this idea FD has of forcing players to do a bunch of tasks they have no interest in is terrible.

Or, you buy a shiny new 40ft articulated lorry and turn up at a little Cotswolds village and demand work that will fill it for maximum profit.

Sorry but, it's like some people think the world owes them a living (metaphorically speaking).

It's a video game for heaven's sake. Add a few more missions so that traders can trade, couriers can deliver, salvagers can salvage, and combat people can shoot things. It's not asking for an easy mode, we just want to play the game and try having some of that 'fun' thing.

There's always someone somewhere that hates themself and everyone else so much that they think 'fun' shouldn't be allowed. This game is the real world, and it should cost 2 million credits just to park your ship! Every station should give crap hauling missions to Colonia!

Traders CAN trade, couriers CAN deliver. It's just that you won't always be able to fill up your T9 to the brim at once, now. You will have to fly a little bit more than re-log. What you call "fun", I call "obsession". :D

You've both already worked out how the new BGS works, only a day and a half after the new system went live?! Well, why aren't you writing up the results of your hard work and brilliance and explaining it to your fellow players? The community needs you! Don't waste time waving an epeen at random posters, get out there and make your mark on the galaxy by revealing it's secrets!

It's really not that hard. Just do missions for certain minor factions/stations, even the ones you might not want. You gotta work for it, man.

It's easy, just play a game to do things you don't want to do!

the real question is do we need to fill the mission board with low-paying missions that nobody is going to accept as filler just so it looks like there's a lot to do when really, there's only 1-2 missions worth doing...and if that's all there is, even those aren't worth doing?

I'm not sure I follow you here. Are you saying she can't find a job in her chosen field? Are you saying careers opportunities aren't posted by classification? Job searches by classificaiton ARE fairly easy to execute.

Are you saying that the ED mission board is stupid becuase it doesn't list missions by job classification? Are you saying the mission board is stupid because you can't access mission postings from other stations or systems in the same way people do nation or world wide searches today?

If it is the latter, I agree with you completely. If it's the former...well, whatever.

I think some people forget that we are supposedly doing this for fun.

FD have never really got this point. Though, going by half the posts in this forum, I don't blame them.

I guess with the new exploration and mining gameplay you could potentially ignore missions and just go do something else entirely? Is THAT the point?

I'm surprised the mission board doesn't have subcategories for each role. Passenger missions already have their own contact. Doesn't make sense for the contact organising the massacre of a rival also arranging supply deliveries. Plus elite is all about roles and building towards them

I have all but ignored the mission board since 3.0 dropped because Fdev have completely ruined combat missions in my opinion.
Then a bunch of solo players complained that there were too many wing missions and Fdev ruined it even more.
Running missions is a complete waste of time for me and my friends (which have all quit playing the game now because of this). Thanks solo players!

Having fun =/= being allowed to cheat

So do you never re-log either? Say, when gathering Guardian Blueprints, or doing the Ram Tah Guardian Ruins mission? Or for any other purpose?

I'm willing to bet some people (not you necessarily) who posted in this thread that they don't board flip and never have, either use re-logging or have used it in the past for other things that aren't the mission board. It's really no different, two sides of the same coin, and would be "cheating".

(note: I'm part of the "2.8%")

Depends on the definition of fun.

If you buy a spaceship game, you shouldn't be surprised when the fun it provides requires the flying of spaceships.

If you want to have fun making number go up, there are different games for that, such as, perhaps, FDev's own JWE.
