The flawed logic I speak of is from those stating the following.
The FSS is too easy - versus the press of a button and the pointing towards the body via the old method.
True, that is flawed logic.
How about: The FSS is too easy vs going up to each planet and scannig them? Because I think you're conflating 2 things.
That it is a time sink - despite being infinitely quicker, granting the player time to invest in probing or other elements of gameplay.
It is a timesink for revealing the contents of a system, it's far more quicker in scanning planets.
That it is tedious in systems 50 bodies or more - more tedious than having to travel to those 50+ bodies just to complete the surface scans to see what materials they offer etc or travelling to each and every asteroid cluster?
No, more tedious than using the ADS and finding out the composiition of a system.
The interface is like a mini game and should be more like the SRV - this would become a time sink nobody would welcome most likely.
No idea what that's about
The FSS cheats and strips away gameplay - you mean supercruising for hours on end to achieve the same result? If that's your thing, do the probing and gain more information and money for your efforts.
FSS cheats I presume is a paraphrase. For me it robs me off knowing what system I am traveling through if I do not want to bother with the FSS. Knowing which system I'm in can cause me to see something interesting and investigate.
The scanning is done much faster.
Thats why I'm saying some of the complaints have flawed logic to states a few from mind.
Apart from the SRV thing which I have no clue off, the flaw was in the interpretation
Meanwhile, if you honk a system, it won't reveal the bodies in it.
I never said the FSS is perfect. I've just started a bread on why I think it is better than the old system, highlighting the fact it is also included with every ship.
Better than the old system is a pretty low bar to set.
One that people are embracing a lot. Which makes me wonder.
edit: next post I read:
Oh, yeah, boring as hell. Because the previous exploration mechanic was SO much more exciting.
