SLF launch just seems clunky.. it's a QoL thing!

I had hoped that one day the process to launch a SLF would be made a bit easier, more intuitive.

As it stands:

  1. Role panel
  2. Tab to SLF page
  3. Select SLF
  4. Select Pilot

I've got all these functions on the HOTAS but it's still PITA when all you really want to do is ring a bell or shout SCRAMBLE, SCRAMBLE!!

At the very least there could be an option to auto deploy first available fighter with the NPC pilot from a hotkey...

Come on FD! [up][up][up][up]

Does this work differently on pc? On xbox I can select the fighter from the main screen of the role panel and then select the pilot, without having to tab over to the slf page.
Same with srv's.
I agree that a revisit to the process would be nice, but i'm just curious if you're unintentionally taking that extra step or if it's actually necessary.

there was a rumor that you could launch the fighter if you just give the "attack my target" command.
could not yet reproduce the conditions necessary for that. (maybe because i always have a fighter bay with two slots?)

Dunno!(not at game) but I think you have to tab to the SLF panel... on the PC.

Yep, just assign a hotkey.

Or that might just be everyrhing BUT launching it

None for launching. For the mere reason that launching a SLF actually requires several button presses. You have to decide which if your SLF to launch. Then you have to decide if the NPC pilots the SLF or if you do. To have that on one button, you'd need to have the ability to set preferences and/or priorities.

I am of course speaking only for myself but both my fighters are always the same and I only ever want to launch with my pilot.

About 6 key presses too many...
