Low res true. A real shock at first, but I'm not going back even while I cannot use it in anger due to AMD SSE4.1 lack of update from FD.
Am I the only one who feels this way????
Your brain will get used to the lower res over time. I wanted to like the DK1.
It's near impossible to read text,
So how many of those people agreeing with the OP or saying that ED tracker does a better job have tried or, even better, own a DK2?
Simple fact is it is not for everyone but, for me, there is no going back. ED and LFS just make sims on an ordinary monitor obsolete to the point that I will not play iRacing or any other sim until DK2 support is added
I sat my wife down and put the DK2 on her head. She looked around the cockpit and said "Well, I guess it's a nice cockpit to look around, but ..." *shrug*
Then I put her hands on the throttle and stick, and told her to push the throttle forward...
She went "SQUEEEEE!" - and said it was loads of fun.
That's pretty much the reaction I had when I first tried the DK1 on Eve Valkyrie - as soon as the action started, all the problems vanished.
Now, one of the problems in my mind is that a lot of Elite consists of looking at walls of text to determine what to buy or sell, and the DK2 isn't great for this, but for dogfighting, I absolutely love it.

I have tried it out for a reasonable length of time. I decided that it was an awesome product which I would like to own, but would rather wait for one with better resolution.
How does that sound?
I find it quite unimpressive as well due to the bad resolution.
Can't wait to try Sony's VR tho.
To be honest Oculus has been pretty much guilty of doublespeak.
They say that it is a prototype dev-kit and it is for developers only yet if they really wanted to limit to developers they could have at least some form of check or validation rather than just selling it.
It seems that they think that they can get around getting CE and FCC certifications and by not offering any support or returns by labelling it as a dev kit.
I wonder if next year we shall see the Dev Kit Mark 3 with all the same caveats while they are still working on the consumer version.

...
Everyone who chooses to buy the DK2 knows what those initials stand for.
I took delivery yesterday and after a lot of fiddling have it working in E: D.
Yes, it's much more immersive than playing on a single monitor. The positional tracking is cool, and the general VR feel is great too.
BUT, the resolution absolutely sucks. Pixels, pixels everywhere. Hard to read text. Orangeish outlines around objects if not situated directly in front of the camera (i.e. if you slouch in your set). "White" stars with rainbow-coloured outlines. Not to mention is looks a bit blurry at times (have tried both lenses, and stuck As as my vision is 20/20). Oh, and the wires/leads are too short for anyone not situated at a desk. I realize some have had success extending. Also way too fiddly to set up - which of course can be partly excused by virtue of this being a development kit. Build quality is OK, but unfortunately my left side adjuster is loose, so it keeps "auto"adjusting when I take it off or put it on.
I'd give Oculus a 10/10 for effort, but a 6 out of 10 for execution. Perhaps my fondness for the thing will grow, but it's far from perfect. I may revert back to playing on a big screen TV for crisper imagery and forego the VR experience until CV1 comes out.

"oculus are stringing you all along"
You have no idea what you are talking about. Honestly..
