I assume you were replying to me because I had bolded Aunt's statement, but so it's clear, I've never even used the phrase "open pve" on this site until this sentence. I don't judge you or really care about this at all.

The statement that I highlighted has often been expressed by all parties interested. I highlighted it because I very much wanted to elaborate on it further, not as a reaction to your opinions.

And yes, my reply has nothing to do with how you, Commander Feros, in particular feel about Open PvE because of the fact that I haven't the slightest idea how you may feel about it. And as you correctly said, you have never mentioned Open PvE in this thread. I apologize for the confusion.

My post was a vain attempt at trying to point out the little hypocrisies on all our part and the importance of respecting everyone's illusions or dreams.

Thank you for the clarification.

I'm not moving goalposts, I stuck to those 2 quotes consistently. And they refered to DG2.

Obfuscation is your spiel when you started paraphrasing me poorly :)

If they blame Fdev for their actions, they're not taking responsibility for their actions.

Yes you are.

I parsed it out perfectly.

You are obviously avoiding clarifying the distinction I pointed out.

LOL

They are blaming FDev for lack of content, not the actions.
That only blames them for the particular targets of the actions, which would occur anyhow.

That sure is a lot of twisting to have a statement try and conform to your narrative, isn't it?

Nah, not much twisiting required ;)

High-waking is considered distasteful if you're a PvPer, but not if you're a PvEer. Different standards applied to people of different skill levels. As a PvPer, you win, die, or low wake. Those are the options. The groups that high-wake out of fights are generally the worst of the worst (13th, BBfA, the rest of the "lawful" players) because they don't actually have the skill to get a successful low wake off without dying.

Hmm.... i can imagine it is if you are the agressor. I mean, if you start something you should finish it right? But i don't understand why just because someone is a PvPer they should give themselves up to dying if they have a valid way out, especially if they are the ones who were attacked.

It seems like you are setting an arbritary standard here and expecting others to conform.

To answer your other question from an earlier post, the low wake bug isn't the entire reason everyone went out, but the straw that broke the camel's back. FDev's complete indifference to true PvP content has lead us to seek to create our own for a bit. Since normal PvP is entirely broken by the low wake bug and no one wants to watch the same 15000mj cutter low wake out, reboot shields, then immediately drop back in 5 times in a row, the opportunity was open for something like this, so we started planning.

Thanks for getting back to me on that, it is appreciated.

However, please excuse my having a massive dose of skeptisism regarding the answer given. SDC are well known salt farmers and have gone to great lengths in the past many times to gank and grief their way to noteriety. You guys have been playing ED for years, and you have known for years FD are not ones for giving much love to PvP. To be brutally honest, if i was into PvP in ED i would have quit a long time ago or just accepted the way things are. Saying you are doing negative activities because the devs don't give you enough love is frankly speaking pants.

EDIT: before you ask, Agony, you can high wake whenever you want to.

LOL, thanks.

It's funny?

It's largely taking place in open, so what is the problem exactly?

Well, "funny" is clearly subjective, but we knew that.

But a large group of players kitting ships out for long-range combat (which anyone can do, be honest), and then attacking a group which has kitted their ships out for long-range exploration (which again, anyone can do but entails significant time invested in the endeavour of the journey), is just frankly pathetic. No skill involved on the part of the PvPers. The PvP crowd are not showing their quality at all and must be bored biowasteless from too much time fighting amongst themselves and ganking noobs in Eravate to resort to this sort of thing.

Give it up guys, you're only bringing about the heat-death of your own enjoyment.

:)

I did, and parsed them out for you.

This whole thread is a brag!

That sort of takes the wind out of your sails, whether you acknowledge it or not.
This thread being a brag is actually helping my point. Since I believe those 2 quotes to be nonsense and are merely a transparent cheap shot used to shift the blame.

Ha ha ha! [haha]
Instead of: We're only doing this because we think it's fun. We like one-sided non-challenging PvP.
Not: because Frontier left a bug in the game.
Not: because FDev's complete indifference.
edit: have to admit, this laughing out loud after making a point was just me trying it on for size.

Feels really weird. Back to the friendly Ziggy smile you all have grown to love :)

I'm in a bit of a back and forth with someone on reddit who when challenged over where is the challenge in ganking, they seem to be trying to defend it by saying not everyone is looking for a challenge in PvP and then comparing with people who do exploration, or trading, or mining, and asking if they are looking for a challenge.

Its really facepalm worthy stuff from my perspective, especially when combined with the usual statements from certain elements on the forums about how people do PvP for the challenge because the NPCs don't provide a challenge. I mean, an Elite NPC will give 10x the challenge an unarmed exploration ships will.

At the end of the day, the gankers gank because they want to gank, and the rest is just excuses. A few people around here at at least honest about their motiviations, which I can at least give them credit for doing that, even while decying the activity itself as being toxic.

I think the important thing before you start that all over again, is to define 'ganking' seen as everything across the spectrum, from killing a player with a bounty through to straight up 4 wing griefacondas dunking on sidewinders in a starter system seems to be classed as such here.

It's not shifting blame for the killing though.

Hahahaha!

And that there is what I find so funny!

You do realize the PVPers (individually) ostensibly spent more time preparing, engineering, planning, jumping etc, right?
Just by virtue of their builds that seems like a logical conclusion.

Why are their efforts pathetic to you, and that of the explorers so inherently honorable?
Don't you realize that's just as subjective?
