Operation: Eagle to Beagle

Hello All! o7

FleetStat is saying that there are 21 Eagle MkII's flying with the fleet. I happen to be one of them.

I chose the Eagle because those bigger bricks were too... sluggish for me. I also liked the cockpit design (I'm gonna be spending a lot of time in there, might as well enjoy the view), and I was aware that it is technically possible to reach Beagle Point in one.

Who else? And why an Eagle?

Totally agree that you should fly what you enjoy. So that's a pretty awesome choice! I haven't seen any Eagles in person on the expedition yet, but I'll keep an eye out for that. It always makes me smile to see off-meta choices.

Cargo? Who's got space for cargo? I didn't have time before launch to get any engineering done, so I even had to scrap my shields to make 19 lights. :D

Is it you? :|

If it's you, I have a funny story for you.

If it's not you, just know that you are indeed not the only one, and the one I'm talking about lives. He lives!!!

Out of curiosity, what kind of build are you using to make the Eagle suitable (I use that word lightly) for long distance exploration? I think of the Eagle as having far too few internals and not nearly enough jump range to make it a feasible trip for a journey like this.

Something about like this.

Lots of Jumponium is going to be used. Also, lots of time. But, hey, I'll find some systems that no-one else has ever been to, along the way! (Found 2 just between the View and Omega, and I was making a B-line)

I met up with an Eagle out past the 65k line way back before engineering was even a thing. I was in a stock Mk III at the time too.

I salute your boldness CMDR! Flying without shields would make me nervous, but I see the necessity based on your build. There's literally NO choice!

Got a screenshot of the outside? Would love to see what choices you've made in regards to ship kit and paint scheme!

M. Darklighter, it's funny that you mention shieldlessness being nervous-making... [noob]

On Friday I was traversing down a rather epic mountain path near Omega, when I accidentally recalled my ship. It promptly made a crater of itself about 3km downslope from me. If I don't hear back from FDev soon, I'll just pay the insurance and hope this doesn't happen farther out.

Really hope.

As for an image.. not sure how to put one up here. Looks like I need to host it somewhere else, first. It might be a bit...
