My thoughts is that Alienware is overpriced and if you build a similar computer yourself it will probably only cost you half. But if money isn't an issue sure why not. May I ask the price of the thing?

Right around $2,000.

You'd be better off spending the £1700 on a 2017 Razer Blade. I've recently purchased one and it seems to handle Planet Coaster on max everything pretty fine. Also the portability of the machine, compared to a massively bulky Alienware.

I am going to stay away from laptops. I want a desktop so I can update components as need be.

dont know where my reply went from earlier so here goes again shorter and sweeter: i do appreciate you trying to save me money or from me making a big mistake. i did check the site out and tried it out. came out to over $1800 and i wasnt even done yet. this now makes the 5th time ive tried assembling one. way more money and the work of doing it. have you even looked at the specs for the 8600? i am not watering my new rig down with an i5 and a GTX 1060 because it will only be slightly better, not A LOT better. and PC needs a lot of power and ram, no getting around that.

CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Supreme Liquid Cool SLC8600A Desktop Gaming PC - this is hardly expensive for what you get, and i think i will need every drop of power from this for planet coaster to run a bigger park smoothly. trying to match or only slightly higher the 'recommended' requirements for PC is a joke, folly, a pipe-dream... people with much stronger rigs than the 'recommended' hardware are still getting bogged down.

I didnt see your reply either, sorry. Well if with a custom pc you get a higher budget I would go with that one. I've checked your link and from what I see you also get hardware with it so that might explain the price.

It's easier than building your own I guess, although I have no experience with pre-build pc's. Usually they tend to have a budget this and a budget that to keep the price down but it seems like it's using the best new parts so it might be good yes.

The laptop has a Nvidia 1060 which is significantly slower than the 1080. It also has a mobile CPU, which are also slower. If you were to run the game at the laptop's native resolution (1440p) you would experience a huge performance hit, compared to the desktop. You could of course run the game at a lower resolution, but 1440p -> 1080p doesn't scale well so you will get very blurry image quality. And even at 1080p you would gain a lot less performance than the desktop. Also, gaming laptops can get very hot, so they downthrottle the hardware to get even worse performance.

So definitely don't get a laptop if you don't need it. A desktop will always be better. You can for instance upgrade your desktop when you want, while in a laptop it is often not possible to swap out the GPU or CPU.
