Oh this is story. (just an old story told by my uncle, impossible to know if it's true)

At the time, when the Disney company still hesitating between France and Spain to build his park, they immagine build a park in the shape of the mickey head.
When our country won the battle (for many reason, one of this reason is because the government has proposed to give, for free, a dedicated "Disney TVG station", the extension of a metro line directly from Paris, and a highway junction), then they start to build "the mickey head". (apparently, they abandoned this pharaonic project)

At first, we know they want to build a third park (similar to EPCOT) but it's now compromised (for financial reasons, but also technical)

This can explain the big circle maybe [rolleyes]

Anyway, to answer your question, the complex is more than 20km², but Walt Disney own "only" (still a huge part) 40% of the company between this "financial structure". (There is also the french gouvernment, a US bank, a Saudi Arabian businessman, and many other I dont know) And this is why, you can thing "non-disney" things, like a big supermarket with more than 100 differents stores (bottom of the circle) for exemple.

If the financial situation allows it, we could have a third park without any problem (they have all the necessary space) but the future investments will be for the land and attractions "StarWars", so it's not for now ...
Disneyland is investing in upgrading their old rides! Like Star Tours, Big thunder Mountian and Peter Pan's flight

NEEXT!

Starwars? What do you mean?
Part of the park is closed at this time (just behind the "Star Tour") some claim that it is an improvement of land to add some "StarWars things" ... (I tried to look through the barriers, but I did not see anything ...)

And since they announced the construction of two dedicated land about StarWars in two parks ("Disneyland Anaheim" and "Disney world"), this seems credible.

But it's just an improvement, not a "new land" like the two other parks.

And this is why we need a good darkride and darkcoaster system (with scripted objects like doors, animatronics, particles effects, water effects, etc...)

The rendering is just amazing [heart]

Did any of you know, that Disney was going to build a Disneyland, here in the UK and Blackpool was chosen for the site, on the sand dunes between Blackpool and St Annes on Sea, which was about 6 miles apart. THis was during the 1970s. However planning permission was turned down by Lancashire County Council, because Blackpool Council feared that it would take away visitors from the Blackpool Pleasure Beach. So Disney decided to build it in Paris instead.

It could have brought thousands of tourists to the area if it had gone ahead, bringing millions of pounds into the economy and people would have still visited Blackpool. That is the short sightedness of Town Councils, who haven't a clue when it comes to planing for the future.

Same as in Heerlen 2 km from my house [yesnod]

Though it was not much, or Euro Disney had lain here. It was even in first place in the shortlist of possible locations. However, a broad-based protest march from Heerlen residents made in 1983 put an end to plans for a theme park on the estate Terworm. Conservation of nature and culture was more important at that time for Heerlen.
