Allow use of pre 3.3 Advanced Discovery Scanner

Not this one, it's easily solved with no downside. The oversight just needs to be corrected, easy fix.
There's been several pages of posts about the technical downsides. Again. Feel free to argue that you want the more complex and bug prone system you are supporting, but you won't convince anyone by just denying reality.

Unless you really are Obi Wan Kenobi, in which case I must agree "these aren't the droids I'm looking for"

Nah you just disagree. It's okay to disagree, or to not like change. Fortunately this change won't affect any player that doesn't like the modules.

It will reduce the schadenfreude, but I see that as a positive.

Definitely an upgrade that should never be rolled back. In fact this annoyance of some that they can not get the VIEW in an instant is very telling - pretty pictures seem to be the essence of exploration to them and yes, I see that these explorers are a group of people worse off after the upgrade.

The time it takes to see the picture of a system is practically the only facet of exploration that was "hurt", all the rest is upgraded; the time it takes to find targets of value, scanning, data gathering, additional exploration mechanics, orrery (that is the actual picture)... Everything.

Personally I find it hard to believe the picture, an inaccurate 2D representation of a system, is of such importance. I'd be most thrilled if I was able to find something really interesting in an otherwise most boringly looking system, giving me the reason to stay there and investigate.

Has Frontier commented in any of the ADS vs FSS threads? If not then it seems like it's a dead issue to them, you're stuck with what we've got.

FDEV already said it's not coming back, why would they reverse that ?.

Don't ask me, I don't know why they removed them from the live game. I presume it was just an oversight following the changes in the beta.

This is a proposal thread, I think discussing the proposal is fair enough, and considering that there was no justification for removing the old modules it follows that there is no real reason not to just put them back in again. There is clearly an ongoing demand, and putting them into the game wouldn't adversely affect anyone that didn't fit one.

Perhaps the conversation could be moved forward. Would you have a use for these modules, would their addition to the game adversely affect you in any meaningful way?

They replaced it with an improved version fitted as standard to all ships, it wasn't an oversight it was a deliberate design choice introduced in a sensible way that meant explorers out in the black didn't need to return and refit. That's why the people with ADS's fitted were refunded credits for them FDEV chose to remove it and took steps to minimize the inevitable griping.

This thread is for a proposal to put them back into the game.

An unnecessary backwards step they've already been replaced with something better, onwards and upwards. Adapt to the game.

That is a matter of personal prefference.
I'm not saying those who would like to see charted map reintroduced have not "adapted to the game". I use FSS and have stated many times already that it's a great exploration tool. It's the only scanner we get and feels like a proper scanner to that.
We are not "butthurt" about introducing FSS into the game we just feel left out in the cold by having our exploration method taken out from us. Someting that didn't happen to combat or mining focused player groups.
I'm sorry to say that i'm getting the feeling that You, Sir, are here only to say that You are against for the sake of being against without anything constructive to say.

Whatever.

When they nerfed high ex cannon shells it altered my game as I've always liked to use cannons just for fun, not min-maxed player griefing which was the reason behind the nerf. I suppose I could have hung around the forum groaning endlessly about it, spamming it in every thread that ever mentioned weps even only indirectly. I'm just not that way inclined though so I altered my builds and experimentals instead.

Adapt to the game as it is instead of lamenting your lost substandard exploration thingy and wasted internal slot, half full or half empty is your choice.

I tend not to accept spam, could you please link this for me, or even take a picture if you cant link it. Put the issue to rest.

Updates come and go, butthurt is forever.
Regarding that quote, I am sorry to say, but the only "butthurt" person here is You.
We are not here to protest the FSS. We are here to give feedback on the feature.
Giving our opinions and providing constructive arguments to justify our request. Trying to come up with ideas on how to possibly justify all parties involved.
We are not trying to shut FSS down. It is however You trying to shut this thread down on the grounds of "i don't like it" is the way i see it.
Some of the misunderstandings here might me my fault though. I should have gone with more precise thread title.
