SRV Cannon Will Not Shoot...

It happens to me all the time. When it does, the first thing I check is to make sure I'm in combat mode. Then I press the button I've assigned to enabling weapons. If that doesn't work, I press the button assigned to cycling target subsystems. Maybe more than once. Granted, doing so isn't supposed to do anything while in the SRV. But it does work.

SRV gun works now. I have no CLUE why. The only thing I can figure is I did the esc/save and exit to desktop thing. Came back in and gun worked. Wierd! Really wierd.

Sorry to waste all of your time though. Sometimes stuff just happens.

Mine did that recently as well. Also, the target reticle or pip isn't positioned properly at the target. It sits too low. I have to hop my SRV off the surface at times just to get the pip to go where it should.

Happy it works now ! and don't feel bad about asking about it here. Somewhere, someone else will be grateful and, if it's a persistent bug, then you have helped to point it out.

This! I've found some really good mining objects that no matter how much I shoot 'em they just won't pop loose. Good ones, too, like crystalline clusters on metal rich moons. Issues - I hope FD is looking at this,.

When I switch to the turret cannon it's dead on accurate but the SRV canon is nowhere near the center of the target, and it's all over the place except where it needs to be.

It is designed to have jitter in the cabin view as you are not training the weapons on-target, just pointing the SRV towards your target and relying upon the system to do the aiming. In turret mode you are actually training the weapon mount to aim so there is less jitter. Seems sensible to me.

There's still a lock in turret mode, and the lock goes to dead center. It's not about jitter. It's about the pip resting too low as an average. it barely gets to the target at the peak of the jitter rise. It should cross over the target, not fall short of it. The SRV should be able to control the gun better than I can from the turret. The jitter should be from manual control, not from a lock.

Here you can clearly see that the pip or reticle is well below what the targeting system considers the center of the target. This isn't a cherry picked image.

Are you running the VoiceAttack profile "Singularity" bound to your controllers (you have not mentioned what your using)?

I had this same problem and had to rebind several items under Options/Driving Turreting I think, and another one in Driving I can't remember at the moment.

Just to eliminate the possibility here.
Are you referring to the OP?

SRV Cannon Will Not Shoot from this HUD mode. It is in combat mode. Just to check I switched to analysis mode. No joy. Switched back to combat. I'm in the turret but it won't shoot from SRV cockpit either. In the bottom right it says SRV Turret Cam. I did not turn on the camera which I've got set to a 3 keys toggle so turning on the camera by accident - nope.

What the heck. Go away for 3 or 4 weeks, come back and I can't shoot my SRV cannon anymore. Options for controls and SRV gun has no option for firing (which used to be the joystick trigger).

I use a Thrustmaster T16000M with the TM TWCS Throttle.

Something wierd happened and I've no clue what.

OH and now there is a Telepresence Active message bottom left of SRV with a graphic of a signal. Again what the heck.

Not on STEAM version so ED didn't update while I was gone!

Can't figure it out - tried and tried but the darn cannon won't shoot and I can't find a control assignment to even assign a button to now.

Any ideas about what could be going on????
I'm no expert but I just tried out my Crater Buggy for the first time and none of the "Normal" keybindings were set on it. I had to go set them all off of the mouse to the joystick and a few on keyboard.
Maybe that I just started and you just came back it is the same problem.

Aha - in your image the target lock circle is definitely offset low. I refer to the dot as the "pip" and that is why I misunderstood your original remark. This is a separate matter to what I interpreted you saying in my earlier reply. Sorry about that. - I have never seen this happen so I don't know why it is doing that for you.

I was referring to the fact that the actual aim-point dot wanders about the target circle (hunting / jittering) in cabin view whereas it doesn't in turret view. So a different matter entirely.

With an Xbox-controller I finally found a solution. I think. Go to role panel. Click on SRV Scarab and at the right bottom menu click on activate turret. Now you can shoot as you like. Click on the X and you're back to the HUD. I hope this works for you.

When I get in my SRV and go into fire mode, it keeps saying I am in the wrong mode and to press L ALT to switch modes, but the button does nothing. I press it and nothing happens. I can get out of fire mode, back into regular SRV drive mode, then the button DOES change to Combat Mode, however, when I reenter the fire mode of the SRV it again says I am in the wrong mode and to switch using L ALT, but again, does nothing. NO idea. Used to work :( And it doesn't seem to matter if when I am in drive mode, I switch to fire fire SRV mode, with either Combat or the other mode... umm, can't recall the name right now. Duh! But, either mode, back into fire mode in the SRV just tells me I am in the wrong mode, to press L ALT to switch and nothing.

In my case i was making the mistake of not assigning the weapon to the srv fire group and THEN when in combat mode i was not selecting the appropiate group . If its not the circle with the inside point your dual repeater is not ready to shoot.

Thanks for all the informers of this subforum. Happy starflights!
