Nope, I've always found people who are extremely and consistently negative about the things they claim to like baffling and amusing in equal measure.

I'm sure FDEV are capable of recognizing inevitable moaning for the sake of moaning with every patch/change/fix/nerf. Which is probably why they stuck with their FSS plan.

So you are looking for others to change their behaviour to suit you. How is that functionally any different from what you claim those you berate to be doing?

I think what you have done here is establish that you are not participating in this thread because you have a particular view on the topic, but to simply oppose any perception that the devs are human & fallible. Personally I'm happy to take your responses as devil's advocate, confident that if there is a flaw in the logical argument I support you (and others) will do your best to find it.

But what you describe is more of a sustained personal attack, which is not how I interpret your posts.

I think the proposal in the OP is a good one, it has no downsides to any player and would be very easy to implement. I don't think the devs are infallible, and I think your perception of frustration is probably related rather more to how people react to your own posts than any actual animosity aimed at FDev. It is simply an oversight that needs to be corrected, or a good suggestion to add value to the game without affecting players that don't use it. Just like the April update, just like pretty much all other updates the game has ever had.

I don't claim to berate them and I'm not looking for anyone to change their behavior. That's your interpretation.

You are the one posting purely about me and your inaccurate assumptions of my motivations (again) so you know where you can shove your shrieking about personal attacks. As I explained to you last time you are not a mod and are being comically hypocritical.

Affecting my game or not is not the true question. Just as I don't want newbs to be given a billion credits (this wouldn't affect my game either) or anyone to be just given the location of Raxxla, I don't want you to be given the picture of the system for free. I want you to be subjected to the same rules I am and I find the new rules better.

This is all there is to it. Can we now please stop beating a dead horse? I'm sure FD noticed the demands for the old system and will decide however they wish. These debates are not convincing anyone to change their view.

But you do get a 'picture' of a system with the FSS.

You know at a glance if there are ELW's, WW's or AW's, you know how many bodies are present.

I suggest my compromise, that the FSS no longer gives energy spikes on a spectrum, just numbers of bodies and if you want to know what is in a system and what it looks like then you scan everything, one body at a time and hope it's what you are looking for.

Now that's fog of war...

I want to see what's out there, not play a bottom-achingly tedious mini-game before doing so.

I was all up for FD improving exploration but not the crap mini-game they added instead. In fact, even calling it a mini-game does it more credit than it deserves.

The FSS is not a mini-game. It is a task that explorers have to go through to discover what comprises a system. And you can tell where the high metal, earthlike worlds, gas giants are. They each have their own place on the tuning scale. You want the picture of the system for free? I'm sure Columbus wanted a picture of the east coast of the North American continent. Just because you want it for free doesn't mean you'll get it for free.

I would like the ability to simply go back to the previous one button honk when I was passing through a system. It was easy and made me a little extra credits on the side. I am not an explorer and don't care for Analysis mode. Particularly in VR it is very cumbersome.

You can still assign the honk to a firegroup & honk, scoop & jump as before. You will fully scan all stars in the system along with any nearby planets & asteroid clusters. You will not discover other planets without travelling near them or using the FSS Scanner Screen but you will be paid an equivalent amount.

So if all you are looking for is a bit of cash while travelling you can still earn at least as much as before.

Just because you want it for free doesn't mean you'll get it for free.

Unless you're talking about an autopilot/autodock module, in which case you will.

Yeah having to swap modes in supercruise is an odd one, you still earn at least the same money as before if you do though.

Let's be honest, what Columbus wanted was a map to India....
He never even set foot on the North American continent, btw, so a picture of its coast would have done him no good. (He only got as far as central and south america)

Sorry, my bad. I'm sure he would have liked a free map of the coast a couple hundred miles north and south of the location he spotted land. Ok, so I got the details wrong. That doesn't change the main premise.
