Forсing players to visit colonia engineers it is oppression

Its all to get rapid charge SCBs which just makes overpowered defences even worse, particularly on cutters which at least used to be vulnerable to feedback cascade rails. I say 'vulnerable', it just meant Prism cutters couldnt guarantee having 20 thousand MJ shields in every fight. For a while they had to weep at just 9000 sometimes. Thank goodness the skill barrier is now being able to choose a system to hiwake to within 30mins.

The Galaxy of Elite is huge. I understand. What i don't understend why i should traveling literraly days if i don't want? It is revenge from game designers to players? But for what? It's about exclusive updates of colonia engineers. I must fly week of my real life, just fly, not play, to get update. This fact makes me sad.

You said it yourself. Why should you travel for days if you don't want to? The answer is: You don't have too.
Don't force yourself. Your ship can function perfectly without those extra engineering upgrades.

Colonia engineers has exclusive updates, for example SCB level 4 and Life Support level 5, also maybe some other too.

Of course it affects balance.

But more important that it hasn’t any rationale except humiliation.
If you don't PvP you are safe to ignore it.

In PvP however G4 rapid charge SCBs can give a slight edge over G3 (3.5s vs. 3.0s spinup time)... 0.5 seconds less for the opponent to interrupt your SCB with feedback cascade.
Colonia engineers service levels are upgraded over time with use, so can eventually get access to blueprints which exist but have no actual provider in the bubble - presumably one or more of the eight bubble engineers that were originally planned but never added to the game might have them? At the moment, this gives G4 shield cell banks and G5 life support., with G5 fuel scoop likely to be completed in the next few months. (G5 refinery will show up some day, G5 interdictor and AFMU will in theory show up someday but unless someone deliberately fast-tracks them by repeatedly engineering a scratch module, probably not in the lifetime of the game)

The Life Support is of extremely marginal benefit compared with the G4, the SCBs probably are useful for particular PvP builds and extremely specialist PvE builds but it's still only a marginal advantage, and the Fuel Scoop when it's available will be of no practical use whatsoever.

The main advantage of the Colonia engineers is that you have ready access to every blueprint - and eventually all at G5, though they're some way off that - from just four engineers who are all very close together. It makes engineering a new ship much more convenient ... if you already live in Colonia, that is!

Thank you for all your views and thoughts on this matter, love this community, as always! (y):coffee:

Logic isn't your strong suit, is it?
Nobody starts in Colonia, so people who got there put some effort.
Games are supposed to provide challenge. You can't handle that, don't play.

Logic isn't your strong suit, is it?

Press one button 200 times in a row without using any part of brain or body is not a challenge.

So.... don't get those things? Or don't go all the way to Colonia just for those things? Nobody is forcing this on you... but frankly, we need more things to encourage players to go beyond the bubble.

Might I say though, if your gameplay is inexorably broken by the lack of a G5-modified SCB or Life Support, sounds like you're doing something very, very wrong.

I am with you on this one. Its mildly annoying seeing responses commenting on your timings.. 'you can do it in 3-4hrs', etc. Yeah well maybe 3-4hrs is all some people get a week if they are lucky.
And its 3-4 hours of zero gameplay: just jumping and watching loading screens. If the prospect was to spend all the time I had for entertainment on watching loading screens I'd pass too. Going to Colonia took me weeks.

And to those "in a week I travelled tens of thousands of LY, did three CGs then travelled some more.": good for you, but try to get some perspective.

I think that if you want the best gear you should be prepared to put the time in, just as those Colonia players put the time in to upgrade their engineers.

Indeed. I wonder if those complaining actually considered helping out getting those engineers developed?

I guess sooner or later those upgrades will come to the bubble, but i see nothing wrong with the Colonia people reaping the rewards, or those who put the effort in to travel and get them. Not sure why anyone would, beyond min/maxers, since they are marginal benefit. Hell, if FD added DD6 only in Colonia i wouldn't be making the trip unless i was already planning on going out there.

FSD Long Range Grade 6 might be tempting though :)

Only if you try to min max it, don't think like Khan get out from the straightest line and bag a load of first discoveries on the way. I just spent 3-4 hours over the last few days exploring one new system.

Min-maxers don't enjoy anything.
