Well, that was in relation to the new un-docking computer and SC assist... Apparently un-docking and SC are / were things players really struggled with and didn't like.
But hey, if they are all about choices for players to use modules or not, then I'm sure they will be keeping their eyes on exploration metrics.

Metrics are another great weakness of the "I haven't tried it, but think I'll probably disapprove if I ever do" approach.
Players in my PMF/friends list are definitely spending more time out in the black.

You're overestimating the import of the forums.
Any time some kind of autopilot for SC was brought up on the forums it was shot down.
Yet apparently it is / was an actual issue...
The forums are never to be taken seriously.
As for autopilots buying a spaceship flying video game then demanding an opt out on flying the spaceship in the video game is pure PEBCAK. Those people should be mocked and derided along with the horse they probably autopiloted in on.
I was one who requested an autopilot for supercruise. Now I'm getting an autopilot for supercruise. So the moral of the story is, Frontier loves me! True, the PS4 team hates me, but the people who giving us gave us the FSS and the supercruise autopilot love me.
So, what should I ask for next? Proper NPC crewmates!!!!
Aotupilot is not opting out of flying. You think a commercial airline captain using his autopilot is opting out of flying? He is still responsible for the safe operation of the aircraft. The autopilot is mere automation. Next you'll be saying that we should control the craft with manual burns at all times instead of letting the computer do it. Now that's PEBKAC. And yes, I do use flight assist. I know when to use it and when to turn it off.

People who want autopilots should be booted out of the pilots federation.
But Frontier wants us to have autopilots, and FRONTIER IS NEVER WRONG! Check your programming, that should be rule #1 in your customized Laws Of Robotics.

No steery no autopiloty. Its more of a training throttle for space numpties.

Next they'll be coming up with a way to discover and tag planets without having to fly to them. Outrageous!
