Just had a go with the new modules...

SCA will orbit & fuel scoop a star!!! and overheat you... lol... be careful which ship you let orbit a star...
when SCA drops u at a station, it will also crash you into the station if you're not there to throttle down... don't know if this is intended, but a zero throttle after drop option should be available to truly immersify my laziness!!!
ADA works without hitches coming & going!!! (haven't died yet)

Good. It's not supposed to be an autopilot.
u r breaking my IMMERSION

if I were asking for Auto-Pilot I would suggest something STUPID
(oops, didn't realize those were still on EDIT), like an auto transition between SCA & ADA... duhh… that wouldn't be fun...

Not managed to get the SCA working yet. I get the Hyperspace Dethrottle Engaged message but nowt happens.
In left side panel when you go to Navigation or whatever, it is the second option, supercruise assist. Instead of picking a station etc as target, you can choose to SCA.
Even then, that assist only saves you from 1 click. Disengage hyperdrive. Why would I supercruise at 75% speed? That takes forever! When I push throttle down all the way, there is an annoying beep for 20 seconds. I only bring it back to the blue area when there is 7-8 secs ETA. For me, the module is more annoying than useful.

Here's a little something to think about. Heading/Track Select on a 300 million $ Jet will happily fly you straight into a mountain. Do you know why? Read the last part of post #13 again
Its a game not a real life jetliner, it takes longer to load up cargo in a jetliner than an Elite Spaceship but I don't see you whining about that. Why would they waste development time adding something actively worse than what we already have? The feature is useless.

Because it is a course hold function... Dude what is wrong with you?

Course hold- Maintains course to a target. Just like Heading/Track Select - Only one job, maintain course, the crew monitors it.

Fully automated guidance system (FMGS) You program the entire route, including any obstacles, weather. In Elite it happens to be astronomical bodies.

The devs where very clear that SCA is a simple course hold function that needs to monitored. In others words, no need to make minor course corrections with a clear path, however you are responsible for navigating past any dangerous obstacles. It is a basic level of automation that has been around since the 1930's

As is binding a key to 75% throttle? Why waste the time on a feature that is already in game and then defend the devs for wasting time adding it.

Also good job jumping straight to insults, its a pretty awful thing to do to assume that something is wrong with me for disagreeing with you on a game. You have no idea what problems people have in real life so jumping straight to insulting their mental state is a genuinely cruel thing to do I wouldn't even expect to see on 4chan nevermind a forum like this.

You know what would be cool?

Full-on supercruise autopilot. I mean, it's even realistic. If the technology were available, why would a pilot want to control every second of boring straight-line flight?

But I don't care much about realism. It would just be nice to flick on autopilot for a 200k Ls cruise and go do my laundry. Sure, I'm taking a risk if something engages me en route, but that's part of the point. It's taking a risk for a little convenience.

Also it would be neat if the auto-pilot had a "scenic route" mode that just flies you all around the system lol
