really lets me know stuff.....is my computer locked up?

Buuut...the screen that shows my ship that I am in...why? kinda pointless , no? I am parked on a moon and its showing my ship at some station
If it seems like I'm whining....I am.

I would love to see the desk of the person that decided we need to move all the little planetary landable icons on the nav panel....
they used to be nicely aligned on the right side making it real easy to spot them at a glance
now, some are indented, but all are overlapping the moon? icon
and if a mission is on one of these moons...the entire line is now blue and the icon is orange.....it really makes me want to scream at someone.
My guess is the designer for this has the messiest desk in the room.
gets disoriented looking at a carton of milk....takes pills for it and now ......

Interesting , QOL changes.....yet all I want is to sell all 216 of my ships now and fly a sidey that has no power priority concerns and maybe send some nasty posts to the wingnut that thought this was good.
I went from enjoying the game to wanting to throw it at someone.
You want so badly to keep making graphic changes to make some things look nicer instead of fixing bugs that actually affect gameplay, this is know as rookie programmer decisions. as for graphic improvements....colorblind? lack of symmetry...really?
I would like to see better testing as in have a BETA!!
Want to make a change, give another screen filled with all the display options and allow us to turn things off/on , as in don't add to my display or do add to my display.
Colors = std/custom/B&W, etc.....choices...icon display=on/off, right side/left side
I never mentioned the colors before because its your game....but serious....Symmetry......it freakin hurts to look at the nav panel, the lack of symmetry is meaningless to some and a necessity to some.
And I have to say also, the idea of putting a control on there for the SCA is saying a lot about ability to plan/organise.
Do you really want to start having various control switches all over the place? How little thought went into that?

How about 2 additional ones that would be highly desirable...ability to properly control color or brightness of HUD as well as ability to shift it around on the screen....
most of the time in various ships it is very difficult or impossible to see portions of the HUD, like altitude and x:y coordinates....they are the same color as most of the moons and on the vette are all 1/2" to low..
Cutter is so bright inside, the side panels are almost useless because you can't see anything but bright white...and my cutter is black...
Reminiscent of back when we had the blinding cockpit in the AspX....

And to repeat....the power priorities....what!!!!
Send me an email when that one is fixed, I refuse to play this whackamole on settings like this. less than zero interest in setting those 30 times a day

Bored now....thanks for that.

In general, this is a nice update. I like the new menus, especially the commodities. I did some mining yesterday, and didn't have problems with selling my cargo. The extra slots are great, and I wish the newbie stuff had been there, when I started the game. Good job. Litterally!

The FPS in/around stations is a serious issue though. Anyone with more Fdev experience than me, that can give an estimate of if and when that will be fixed?

As for FPS...
I guess the game renders menu with ship in hangar all the time in the background, even if you are not in the menu. This causes drops of FPS and increases memory usage. Of course, I'm not sure of it, but knowing how Frontiers love to make bugs out of the blue... Also I will not wonder if it appears that the old menu is still rendering in background as well. My experience makes me think so =)

OK we tested GankDrag, now we know that it's crap. Please restore it back as it was before patch.
Absolutely insane how easy it was gank people yesterday in Deciat.
Im not skilled as HairyPotter, Dezpe, Riznler, yamato or other minions ;)
But look on the time and sec's to kill, that is absolutely insane

This so much!

The desparate drive to shine things up with unmotivated superficial changes to stay frosty and not loose the yongsters is just pathetic. So all of the above - plus it es me off that the navigation panel - which is a panel providing dynamic, tactical information - now all of a sudden offers idiotic links to teach me how to trade or smuggle when I am locked onto a station. what! This information is already available via the Codex, but this is how desparate FDEV is to retain the newbies. And the problem is not only the actual dumb design decision, it is also that when things like this happens the game looses its cool. It is a sign to everyone that FDEV is not thinking straight anymore. This is simply dumbing down a game in its purest form. Bad FDEV.

So... I will add to what I see here. The drag munition thingy is extremely concerning for combat. Even as more of an explorer recently, I see the big issue in overall effect this update will have. Small ships will no longer be able to escape larger vessels, thus making ganking far easier (even modded Vettes can easily out-boost many ships in the game if they do not boost) To add to this, the little issue of that mod going through shields and being available on uncounterable projectile weapon will upset the game balance to the breaking point. As it stands now, Drag munitions are a valid tactic that you can escape from if you do flee rapidly, just because of the boost. The change that is en-route to go through will make destruxtion of happless ships far more likely when used while at the same time decreasing usefulness in certain types of PvP from my point of view. FDEV, please reconsider the change.

They fixed the tiling effect whilst taking hires screen shots but now when I press alt F10 it doesn't save any picture at all and I have Nvidia overlay alt f10 keybinding turned off. I sent a ticket to frontier about the issue so hope it can be resolved soon because I loved taking those lovely Hi-res shots.

I seem to be able to take 16K screenshots (Alt-F10). Instead of the tiling effect (funny enough I actually didn't mind that) you get just the percentage counter, but otherwise it works fine. Of course that doesn't help you, but perhaps there is something that is different between our setups that might explain the issue?

EDIT:
I'm running an EVGA Nvidia GTX 1060, using the Precision X OC tool (the OSD can be problematic so I have that disabled).

On another note, the power priorities seem to keep resetting randomly (sometimes just a few get reset to 1, sometimes more). I think the priorities tend to scramble when changing instances (jumping out of FSD mode, making a system jump); although they appear to be intact after logging out and back in again.

EDIT2:
Hmmm, seems switching to another ship I was using (that I had set the priorities several times on) reset some of the power priority settings....seems weird that it doesn't reset them all (at least not all the time). In any case I hope this can be fixed soon since this is driving me mad having to set the power priorities again and again.

It's kind of disappointing that on Playstation the scrolling bug in mission selection screen is still present. That cant be to hard to fix and would really be a 'quality of life' improvement.
See here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/mission-menus-scroll-in-a-really-weird-way.470877

How can this be QoL-Update if i see a loading screen tip, but cant scroll through the missions panel adequately (something most people do every day inGame). There is something worng with setting the priorities, in my opinion.

I have a GTX 1080 Ti, and all on Ultra. My screen can only do 60 FPS, so I limit the game to 60 FPS. They were completely stable before patch - and are stable now after patch.
I read here 2 things:
1) Check the FX setting - this seems to affect only ship trails. Switch it to 'off' and try again.
2) The Cursor setting in the graphic options could be an issue. If you use any of the '3D compatible' options, it could be the problem. Use the system cursor (2D).

I have here FX settings on 'Ultra', and the 2D Cursor, which is default. Maybe this helps...
Ok tried some testing today just to see what was dropping the FPS so badly and can now say it down to CPU usage. None of the suggested made any real difference! In fact while trying to find the "one option" in the graphics which would release some cpu cycles I had a commander arrive at the station I was docked in. I was on LOW GFX settings with nothing altered and watched my FPS drop from 60 to below 30! The longer I leave the game running the more drag I'm seeing on the CPU.
Next I tried solo mode just to see what difference that would make but again since I did not close the game completely my FPS and CPU remain tanked! Only a cold reboot and reload gave me a few minutes of 60 FPS.
I'm convinced there is a process leak/something running away in the background now which is not related to GFX setting ect. (GPU reporting a max of 75% usage on MAX settings)

Again even on low settings if you go to an conflict zone the game tanks.

Elite is therefore not playable in most situations anymore ... well done ;)

I trust none of the consoles have seen a massive drop in FPS?

Heads up folks - Check your power priorities...

All modules have reset to priority 1 on at least one ship tested so far ;)
Ok kids, this is getting annoying. <facepalm>
Didn't just happen once post-patch, it's happening randomly on relog or landing or something?
Use extreme caution deploying hardpoints above high-G planets when your thrusters cut out...

Edit: What was that mantra again? Oh yeah, NEVER PLAY ON PATCH DAY!

Ok tried some testing today...
I also see increased CPU usage, but running an I7-7700 it's now around 40-50% in task manager. The GPU (1060 3GB) is at 80%. 3 GB is not a lot these days, and already before the update I saw FPS drop in stations, but not nearly as bad as after the update. I went to an asteroid ring yesterday, and than ran smoothly.

Whenever I experienced FPS drops in the past, I noticed that loading the System Map and then exiting that, seemed to clear the FPS problem in many cases. That to me also points to either a memory leak, or some sort of unused reserved memory blocking the game.

Just to mention the new nav panel may be nice and all, but not for VR. The smallish text on top is rather hard to read on the Rift, and some of the icons are hard to distinguish too now. Liked the previous iteration better.

O7,

I have the same CPU but a 1080ti & graphics memory usage isn't a limiting factor for this new issue. Docking at a station where another player is already there (and presumably therefore hosting the instance) tanks my framerate too.

The longer I leave the game running the more drag I'm seeing on the CPU.

Maybe the CPU gets targetted by the new drag munitions ;)

What with the power management bug and the performance hit, this seems like an update to avoid for now. It would be great if you had the option to "not update" and remain on a previous version if it was one you preferred or worked better. At this point, I'm sharing Old Duck's view that an update is something to provoke trepidation rather than anticipation...

Well those LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHING FDEV have done it again.
Released an update with extra toys and bug fixes.
Or have they.....
Derrr nooooo.

THE ASSASSINATE MISSION STILL BUGGED.
I have seen this bug for at lease 9 months if not longer.
I will not issue a bug report as they already no.
Description is take a mission to kill Pirate for 2.3 Mil Cr.
Go to target sector Find Target with FSS.
Locate target scan it, It is marked as WANTED, but not mission target. So either jump out or kill them just to get the Bounty. Mission is not completed.
So jump out of system. Go back find location and Target again. Same Name but still not mission target.
In the end kill the mission and LOSE REPUTATION as you have not completed the mission.

Heads up folks - Check your power priorities...

All modules have reset to priority 1 on at least one ship tested so far ;)

And as you're at it, check the fire groups too. Composition and Discovery scanners went round robin, had to fix these on 27 ships. Not to mention the weapons, some mappings were definitely not the ones I had configured before.

At least, there's still life in the old lady yet, so Miracle Max may still be able to fix the rest. True love never dies, they say.

I ran into a mamba with frags a week ago back in Deciat while I was taking my vulture in to get some special effects - at the time I was wondering what they were thinking, not so much in a "why are they trying to use drag frags on a vulture" way so much as "why would you pull a vulture when you're running drag frags". I have a feeling that this change might have made a difference to me vanishing into the distance.

(although I'm curious whether that was you now, I might have stuck around longer for some banter if that hulltank FAS wasn't there as well :p)
