So FDev have no backbone....figures

Reverting the change does not improve open gameplay for all.

Reverting is a bad decision for open gameplay.

So what your nighty FDL vs FDL pvp group vs pvp group fights would have had to change.... It was a good change for all and fdev and the vocal pvp minority got this one wrong.

I responded to your lengthier post in the other thread.

Direct quote from a post by the OP of this thread:

Yes they have a point, but the cons outweigh the benefits of this particular change (in my view, other views are available).

I agree. Engineering should be changed so that permaboost is impossible.
But does FDev have it in them to change the game for everyone, when they won't even change it a smidge for a vanishingly small pvp community? Doubtful.
I can see how people on Madrox's side are upset (I used to be, before I stopped caring). I can also see the PvP side of the equation. FDev just doesn't leave much on the table to solve the issue if they cave to every complaint.
Which is why we are stuck with permaboost and stupid high effective hit points. PvPers won a battle here, but the tactics of kneejerk complaining have lost the war.

Having meta stagnating for years favors echo chambers where the players who acquired the taste of old cheese keep on playing while the others moved on. No wonder 40 nerds circlejerking bust a nut when patchnotes mention something that dont smell like the deep space old fart they're trapped in their suit with.

But what's hilarious here is the drama queen posts threatening ganks in open hotspots. Like if drag was some kind of exploit a group of player would abuse to force a patch, except it's just in the patch notes and barely hit the live build, barely tested.

Frontier did the rational thing and announced a roll back to appease the queens, because player retention is an issue, support is already full of ship refund requests, and the change, even if it was motivated by gamedata showing nobody ing used the effect, is just inconsequential to 99% of the players.

They wont try to push balance changes making 10% more of this and 10% less of that and a bit less there and a bit more here because every commander and his dog has an idea about how things should work in the void. And why would you push changes that could potentially upset vets when their commity of armchair generals can release their dedicated pawns to gank for the lulz.

This is not a fight between devs and players. Effectively, a toxic part of the PVP community forced development resource to be rolled back, shooting themselves in the foot in the process because it'll lead to less resource being spent to tweak balance in the future.

Guess you can't back up your sweeping statement then ;)

There is no need to differentiate, there is no need to patronise (I'm not implying you did the latter Replicant, I generally respect your views). Concepts are not difficult to grasp, there are pros & cons to a change & in this case (in my view) the cons outweighed the pros but the view of some posters, because of their posting style or other behaviour means some will automatically want to find a way to disagree. This does not help engender others to look at the feedback in a positive light, just as Jasonbarron and Phisto Sobanii want to find ways to disparage my posts even though in this case we share the same view on all the basic points of the discussion.
I wasn't referring to you in my original post.

It was a general statement. Not mentioning a name, post or timeframe.

I just see it from time to time and chuckle

Well I didn't get the 10 pages of whining like the last time I did an old stirring post like this.... Much up my Forum PvP game.

Yes for those that may be a bit slow on the uptake this post was to stir the pot and wind you up, the title and wording tone was specifically set to trigger people. Might need to work on that a bit though :p

If you don't like it come and find me in game and shoot me - with the new drag ammo for all I care, as already noted by one astute member of the forums I don't fly my ships and just let my gimbals slowly kill crappy NPC's so I'll be an easy target :D

For the record I find it quite interesting that ED doesn't have much in the way of actually stopping your targets like snare/root style effects (to coin the terminology from fantasy style MMO's) and I find it too easy to avoid any form of PvP that isn't completely consensual. Yes I do think that some should be introduced, maybe not in the way it was done with drag experimental etc.

Have fun and fly dangerous :p

One of the things that make discussions like this unending is the generalisation. It must be done to avoid naming & shaming of course.

Some PvPers are just bananas. Some PvEers too. I sit in the middle (I just play the game in Open, sometimes I get attacked) and get muck flung my way from both ends of the spectrum. If you only get it in the neck from one end feel lucky :D

If you want to wing up, you can find me around shinrarta flying a cobra. I am currently mining void opals in Delkar in a slightly engineered cobra :)

If u ever want to join me for some mining I would be down. We could talk about the game and pvp

The only way any of the actual, non-insulting content in this post makes sense is if you view it through the lens of the massive bias and vitriol on display. Otherwise, it's hard to imagine a legitimate logical reason to assert ridiculous assumptions like "it'll lead to less resource being spent to tweak balance in the future".

I mean...come on, man! You're even indicating that you don't believe people who PVP in this game are even worthy of being called "players"! ("not a fight between devs and players").

Post made me lol. Want to see something else funny? Try googling "elite dangerous reddit drag" Thats why it got rolled back, not anything that was said on here. The reddit chosen said no.

I appreciate the offer Replicant, I'll send you a friend request. Always happy for a little 1-on-1 or to be pirated.

Amazing scoop! What else did the dev team tell you in your exclusive interview?

There's almost no chance this is true. I followed activity both places and Paige had already indicated that the massive feedback received on these forums were being forwarded to the devs before the Reddit activity even started.

My boy dont feel insulted, it's translated from french.

Anyway, with the outburst of "leave my gameplay alone" feedback they got, if you imagine one sec the dev team will have their next meeting being about balance tweaks in the next patches, I've got sad news for you. Resources are limited, money dont grow on trees.

But first, let's count the number of days they'll spend to patch drag back to where it was. Because; you know, drag, it's like the new heat. It's so sad you know. It would have killeed the gaem.
