Number of jump removed???

So you're not actually complaining about something being removed, now you know it's still there, you're now complaining it doesn't do something it didn't do previously?

Rather than just saying "Ah, I see, I missed it".

Yes, what you said. Because I'm free to do so as I see fit.

Besides, what's it matter to you?

Can we get off of me and back to topic?

You want to see the remaining number of jumps without plotting a route? How does that work?

Yes I do. Seeing how the FMC does the plotting and not us, what difference does it make if we click on a thing in GalMap or in Nav panel? If I click it, that must mean I want to go there. Plot it, route it, call it what you want and let me see my jumps on HUD.

Even my free GPS app can do this in 2019. I really don't see what all the confusion is about.

Sorry, I really don't get it. If you select a target in nav pannel it's just one jump anyway. If you plot a route in Galmap it tells you the number of jumps. I understand that you want to see the number of jumps in the main HUD (which, in my opinion, is a fair suggestion even if I disagree with it) but I can't see how you want to see the remaining jumps for unplotted routes. How could the game know where you want to go without plotting a route first?
Maybe it's just me being dense... :)

Guardian Mind Implant confirmed. You read it here first.

The NAV panel is only one jump? Are you sure?

I recall in my 15LY Vulture NAV-selecting CD-33 8748, while floating in Bunda, is min 2 jumps. The FMC set it as destination and plot/route me there just fine.
I though the two perform the same function. NAV closeby systems and GalMap well, GalMap.

Now I'm getting confused :(

IIRC, the Nav Panel shows the stars closest to you, within a certain range, up to a certain number of stars. I'm not sure what that range and number is, however, because once we started being able to set filters, the first thing I did was filter out nearby systems. I do remember feeling like it was useless when in the Bubble because my jump range was normally a lot greater than what was shown on the panel, and when I was out exploring I already had a route plotted.

Unconfirmed, but I think it's around the 20ly range and not sure on the limit, 4 years ago it was about 50. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, as an explorer you're on the other end of the spectrum.

So then the question still remains and that being, a NAV panel selection is not identical to a GalMap one? Nav will set your destination at a lower level and get you there but with no route feedback. Plotting with GalMap will do the same plus give you the route and jump numbers.

Pretty weird design. They should just combine the two.

It's possible they added this in a recent update. I don't play much these days. Anyway, in that case I agree, it should also tell you the number of required jumps.

Not in my opinion. This is my first real foray into deep space exploration (the old ADS really sucked the joy out of exploration IMO), and before that I mostly did BGS work.

The Nav Panel might have been useful I could’ve set filters to show nearby systems I’m actually interested in, like with the Galmap, but it shows every nearby star, out to whatever range/number limit there is. But knowing there’s a uninhabited red dwarf light years away is useless when I want to know where the nearest system that might sell nerve agents is, so I can smuggle them in to help some brave freedom fighters resisting the oppressive rule of the cruel Galactic Federation.

Which is why I filter out the nearby stars on the navigation panel.

It took me all of a minute to see where the jump counter had been moved to and get use to it.

C’mon people, we’re all using Windows here. You should be use to everything being somewhere new every update by now.

Just got home and fired up Ed. I t seems the Nav panel has changed more than I thought. It only displays systems that your ship is actually capable of jumping to. All others are red with Excess Mass label. If I remember correctly, this was not the case before. We could select any system to to bottom of the list.

Tell me I'm not going space nuts.

I'd say you are going space nuts. But that's not worth much because I went space nuts ages ago myself.

I’ve seen the red Excess Mass ones in the list long ago.

Is it just me or did they seriously remove the number of jumps remaining from the Nav Panel?????

Tell me this is not true after begging them to display this info on the HUD as well!

they haven't removed it, just made it microscopic and washed out, so you cant read it
