Honestly Fdev ?

...you won't even be able to turn the game off...

So that's why i can't exit the game properlly now.
ok... ok... now i think i get it, the black screen... and the planet horizon, forcing me to go to task manager and kill the executable........

and yes every time a game goes down it start with the "huge crowd of non-hardcore gamers"

How much is this game's subscription fee? How much does a ship skin cost? How many skins are sold per day? How much does a developer get paid per hour? How many developers does this game have?

These are the reasons this game is going into maintenance mode. You need more than just a few myopic masochists to keep a game funded. But for this game, the casual appeasement that people are clutching their pearls about is too little too late.

Do you work for FDev and know someting we don't know?

In 2018 the majority of income was from new game sales and it achieved its highest annual revenues to date in FY 2018.

Yes, Frontier is introducing auto assists and the ability to hitch a ride on a ferry, and they are FORCING YOU TO USE IT! No, you won't be able to play the game like you are right now, you won't even be able to turn the game off. They will strap you to your chair and force you to use Supercruise Assist to fly to the Megaship, then you'll be forced to Autodock with the ship, and then you'll be forced to fast travel to wherever you would normally go. Honestly.

iu

Oh, and when you get there, you'll be forced to auto-undock from the fast-travel ferry! HONESTLY!
If it's in the game, you are forced to use it. Whether you're actively using it or not, you're still using it because it's a part of the considerations you have to make when you try to do something in the game. Every part of the game contributes to your experience with it, and that includes the things you DONT do just as much as the things you choose to do.

Once space legs drop expect a guardian "teleportal" step into one end in the bubble and only moments later arrive at colonia, none of that flying nonesense. :D

Are you joking? They're already doing that for the guardian bubble as of today. Of course they're going to do one for colonia.

I bet sandro is rolling over in whatever game is working on now given how much he used to publically bash that idea.

So a supercruise optimization autofunction is an I win button? Is flying in supercruise a challenge for you OP? Are you flippin kidding me? Point your ship at a point an wait. That is the elaborate mechanic you find so precious? Go rearrange your sock drawer or vacuum your rug a few more times.

Is it doomed yet? If yes, we better tell them to stop working on that 2020 content.

Another logical fallacy. I'm not saying the game is doomed. I'm saying that Elite isn't making enough money to create the kind of content people want, and it will not be subsidised by the successes of other games (at least not anymore than it is already). So lower the expectations, because people seem to think that FDev are raking cash in with this game, and then refusing to spend that cash on development, but that's not reality.

Hmmm...

1. Flight taken out of exploration.
2. Throttle taken out of supercruise.
3. Flight taken out completely via megaship.

Why not just get rid of supercruise altogether then and give additional purpose to real space flight. You don't get a sense of scale anyway due to the acceleration.

Another alternative is to have made a minigame to speed it up, or add in a local system jump drive. As well as pressing a button, add in an optional minigame to make it faster or use less fuel (you won't be at the star anymore) to add depth. Nope give up turn it off lets make it even more braindead.

Know the spinning door lock in warframe? something like that with your success rate reducing the fuel cost and animations and sound that change depending on how well you did. Boom -> system jump. Can even add "jeopardy" by making it so that if you get it wrong badly enough, you pancake into whatever you were jumping to.

Is this is it?
The grand initiative...
A community event to build a spaceship, that we park our own spaceship in to fly somewhere...

... In a spaceship flying spaceship game...
I cant wait for 2020..
... Here it is! The big reveal! Voila! An in spaceship toilet! You can get out your commander chair, float in real time down a passageway to the back of the ship and enjoy a mini grinding game to open a door, and weeee.. A toilet! You can flush it! Oh, its amazing, the physics behind the flow of water in the bowl is based on REAL PHYSICS! ... And handwavium, the toilet actually moves inside you ship to create its own gravity well and all that p... and s... wont come hurtling back up at you once you flush.
... And you'll have to collect grade 5 mats to keep it working.

The way I see it this is another part of the "beginner's experience addon" making it easier for new pilots to gain access to the guardian modules.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw new guardian modules soon, which are somewhat comparable to engineered modules but without the grind for materials (more then once).

Let's see how this plays out.

And yes, I would've been in favor of using in-game tools, but seems like it's a forum vote for the time being, and to be fair, looking at the forum thread it seems to be a quite nonsensical decision without real consequences, so why waste developer time on that?
