It pleases me to know that the myriad of ways I, and many of my friends, play Elite would likely astound you.

PvP, BGS, RP, PvE - yeah, you can have your boxes. ;)
Y'know, I don't even care how you, or anyone else plays.
I play in many ways, and you shouldn't care about that either, because it simply doesn't matter.

Rubbish. I used to compete in Laser, Flying D and Finn regattas, it was hard work with long days on the water, and very much worthwhile - now, I'm more than happy kicking back in pretty much anything and enjoying the calm serenity of it all - we had a J20 for a while which was minimally challenging, but also very much worthwhile. On the rare ocassion I get to ride these days, I'm not going to telemark my old **** somewhere insane or waste my days on double blacks, I'm going to glide around effortlessly in knee deep powder off-piste - no challenge, but so unbeatably worthwhile. I also very much enjoy sitting on the beach enjoying the sites and sounds around me - a very worthwhile experience imo. So, please do carry on thinking that every recreational moment must be filled with challenge to be 'worthwhile', but you're wrong.

What? The first thing you posted was "it was hard work with long days on the water..." You did the challenging thing already. So, thanks for proving my point?

EDIT: Besides, we're talking in the context of a GAME. Obviously I don't mean sitting on a beach should be challenging. Haha.

I don't have to justify the way I enjoy the game to you. Just trust me that I enjoy the way I play the game.

I'm not asking you to justify it.

Look ma! We're having a ing contest about who plays a game the best way!

Gawd I love this forum :)

edit: It's close enough to "real explorers", shot!

Another reading comprehension fail from you, what a surprise.

Let's review.

This thread is about folks getting destroyed at Beagle Point. Apparently this happened in both Open Play and Private Group. Ziggy and I got on a discussion regarding creating a more secure and fun environment for DW3. He and I have very different philosophies on how to handle that. His, best I can tell, is don't worry about it the way it was handled this time around is just fine. Mine is more along the lines of having a laugh and getting good with flying and outfitting so you can't be destroyed in Open or Private Group unless you want to be. We've naturally fallen into a tangent about what sort of challenge we like to see in games and whether that's worthwhile.

Then you brought up how sitting on a beach is easy. Um, well, yeah. Of course it is?

I like sipping tea. Very easy and worthwhile. However, that's not really a game, yeah?

Wait, you're not saying the way I approach this game is the way I approach life, are you? You wouldn't do that.

I've honestly got no idea. Seemed to be suggested by the context of your response and so I responded how I did. But hey, I try to play the game as hard as I live my life.
