Feedback on current Interstellar Initiatives content

Perhaps it does seem like effort, but lest we forget the incessant whinging about having to do all sorts of unconscionable things (like using an SRV) in order to access new game content, or the 'gasp' paywall preventing non-horizons owners from accessing new game content. Well, here it us... different ways to access guardian content without having to suffer the indignity of using a SRV - different threat USSs, megaships, piracy... of course introducing more avenues will probably just lead to new whinge cul de sacs*.

*no, not from you, and thank you for a nice initial overview.

I'd also like to point out that there are no doubt triggers behind each action. The more Pirated goods that find there way into the market the more likely it is something different will happen.

Let's throw out the standard script and make FD work for their plot.

In the guardian structure I could get 9 guardian materials, 2 ancient relics, and a couple of totems in 10 minutes of game.
I think this is still the most profitable way.
And it will remain the most profitable way. FDev has consistently maintained a "our approach to (insert feature or mechanic here) is the way we want you to play it" approach to the game...which is fine. But that people continue to be put off by this is surprising to at least this CMDR. Take the FSS, take the megaship fairies, take material traders...take anything. FDev's approach is "Hey, you don't HAVE to use them." And they are right, you don't. But if you do, there is pay off and not using them punishes you in some way...either a time-sink or trade ratio, or whatever. This game is all about time gating and I've come to accept that. It is what it is...either it's for you, or it isn't. So look at this Interstellar Initiative as new gameplay opportunities and some form of dynamic narrative attempt, which, by the way, I am very glad to see FDev taking a hand at...but don't expect any of the new game play to be anymore lucrative than farming the Guardian sites because FDev want you to go there. They spent money and time on the assets and they want you play the game that way. They're not going to allow copypasta megaships and outposts to out pace those hand crafted ruins.

Oh that would be hilarious. Please tell me they forgot to put one in.
There must be one.
They did forget to put one in...but it was immediately pointed out and as of last night, there was one. It was a very quick turnaround from what I head Will say on stream last night.

Just took this:

Similar positive experiences of the new USS's here, as long as they show as one of the 2 in system factions (on top right) they invariably have 6-10 mats

Threat 3's are also a doddle as the worst I've seen is a Competant FDL and numerous low ranked smaller vessels (never more than 2), literally no threat all to a half decent build (I'm triple elite before anyone suggests a low rank could be the cause)

So far big thumbs up for adding a bit of variety. Means when I go for blueprints I can ignore mat gathering and speed that process up as I'm already nearly maxed out on mats after just a few hours today

Stop going off topic, I demand to know where the bacon is!

Agree totally that so far II's are just CG's with a bit of fluff attached but hopefully based on feedback they'll improve over time

Luckily I'm able to amuse myself (ingame) either way so I'm not quite at the "sky is falling" stage of others, though I do appreciate their points of view.

Where are these Interstellar Dogsniffs? I see a dead community goals tab in the mission boards, nout else..

I feel a system lock down protest vote coming on.
It is significantly harder to do these days. You can't just drop in and murderhobo cops for a day to trigger a lockdown, nor is the state of lockdown achieved in isolation to security activities undertaken in the system (unlike the old means of achieving lockdown). It's way less feasible these days.

Tl;dr if anyone wanted to do a "protest lockdown" they'd better start now, and be prepared for at least a week or two of effort.

So I just put two and two together... Phase 3 of the Interstellar Initiative has pretty much already been decided IMO, due to this issue: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/1842

tl;dr (spoilers, in case you don't want to know what Phase 3 is)

The CG will likely be hosted out of a Zende-controlled station. If you support Segnen, you'll become hostile and unable to hand in bonds at the CG station, therefore unable to contribute to supporting Segnen. Basically, it'll become impossible to support Segnen.
There is a big thread in the BGS section of the forum, where this was already shown to be untrue. Wars can be won without handing in bonds, they are determined by the outcome of the CZ.
