Keelback just received some love on the store...

The Keelback is the perfect little deep core miner. Properly fitted it can hold 64t Void Opals.
Or if you're like me, and like a little SLF company, it's down to 32t which is still a cool 51 mill.

Can anyone who's bought the Tactical pack tell me whether there's an unintended asymmetry on the dorsal markings of the Tactical Ice paint job? The dark bits on the individual thumbnail are definitely shifted to the port side, which none of the other colours exhibit. I'd like to know whether it's a problem with the pack itself or something the art department broke on the store page. The tiny version on the cluster of six thumbnails also looks OK to my squinting eyes FWIW.

(Not that I'm likely to be buying a Keelback any time soon, but I do love Tactical Ice and owning one of everything in that skin may become an "endgame" goal. I'm already a bit miffed that the Mamba Tactical Ice is more of a Dirty Snow, so it'll be a double whammy if the Keelback version is also borked. Somebody seems to have it in for that colour scheme).

I’ve wanted a Keelback for a long time, but I haven’t the foggiest as to what I would do with it, what niche it would fill that my existing fleet hasn’t filled several times over already.

Hmmm...

The "perfect" mining ship probably has a fuel-scoop.

It's probably best suited to players who are on the "way up", progressing from a Cobra and wanting a first taste of the SLF. A handy mission runner until ...... 🤷‍♂️

Ummm, I'm not sure.

I have a Keelback and the Tactical paint pack.
Trouble is, it's so worn that I'm not sure if the markings you're talking about will be visible.

Do any of these pic's help?

They're great, and (what's left of!) the markings look fine on your ship so I guess it's just a problem with the store image. It's most noticeable on the hull markings directly between the aft part of the main engines; the dark colour that's centred around your dorsal utility mount is half way across the port engine in the store image, and the two "prongs" of darker paint are also offset to the extent that the port one is actually below the LAKON stencil on the hull. To be honest I might not even have noticed had this thread not drawn it to my attention.

BTW on my first glance at your first screenshot I lost all sense of scale and for a split second it looked as though your Keelback was in low orbit and about to nudge up against an orbital platform of some sort. My fingers were already twitching towards the keyboard ready to type, "What the hell is that and where I can find one?!" when I realised what I was looking at. Now that I know what it is I'm seeing it's quite difficult to force my brain to see what I saw before, so I appreciate that these words may well sound like the rantings of a madman (even more so than most of my words).

Here's another couple of pictures of a Keelback with the Tactical Ice paint-job.

I don't actually see any asymmetry there. 🤨

Also, I appear to now own two Keelbacks instead of one.
Anybody got any suggestions what I might do with them... that can't be done better by an AspX?

Properly outfitted you can core mine 32t a time with a Cobra Mk III.

Never found a proper use for the keelback. Python does everything much better. And if it's a matter of fighter hangar, the Krait-mighty-lord is even better.

Planetary work. Small enough to land anywhere, big enough to fit two SRVs, strong enough to sustain attack while you come back from messing with a settlement.

The Keelback will shine once they added new, bigger SRVs that require a SLF hatch to deploy because they no longer fit through the cargo hatch.

I'm liking the spoiler on it. Finally we have the T-10's little sister ship looking like she is meant to.

All we need now are for wings of NPCs to troll around in T-10s escorted by Keelbacks with extra spoilers.
