It's even more amazing how some people need 5 posts to express a simple information.

So let's attempt a simple application of logic. Is it consistent to say open is the most popular form of play but there has been a tendency for people to leave open in favour of solo/pg as ganking has become more prevalent?

PvPers content is themselves and each other. That's about it. PvEers are not there to provide fodder for PvPers though they are often treated that way. So the false dichotomy of play in open and suffer the slings and arrows, or play alone and be anti-social is very misleading. You can be social and actually do cooperative game play instead of everything turning into a walled in deathmatch.

The simple solution pvp zones. It's used by a tonne of other online games and works well. Pvpers can knock lumps out of one another and PvEers can enjoy the online experience without being cannon fodder. PvPers that don't agree with this clearly only want the easy target. The prospect of actually being challenged obviously does not appeal.

There's a doubt that open is the most popular form of play, which is why powerplay is such a futile endeavor and feels like trying to scoop the ocean dry with a thimble. But it is consistent to say that if you've been saying that all along.

Everyone should have open play to the entire galaxy, and if they want to group up and kill ships then that's ok too. I just don't want to be in that galaxy if I have the option to be in another one where that doesn't happen.

No no. I asked a simple question. Regardless of true or not, can you understand why those two situations are consistent?

(This is like pulling teeth...)
A mode can be popular and still be losing popularity. If you present that though as if there's a danger then there needs to be a sign of it instead of a gut feeling. What evidence do you have that suggests open has fewer players today than it would if ganking wasn't as prevalent?

PvP zones is the simple solution for me. People seem to forget that it's a game and you should be able to enjoy playing it without having someone harassing you and trying to ruin your entertainment. Make a PvP zone and they STILL get to PvP. No-one has lost anything....apart from perhaps the opportunity to attack people who don't want to play the game like that or with them.

Well it's not me that keeps on writing assumptions that aren't verifiable. Although your assertion is logically consistent, it doesn't have anything with truth.

So are we agreed that the argument presented of it being "most popular" is not one that disproves my view?

You can enjoy it without having people harass you. If there weren't two other viable modes then I would agree, but PvPers cannot use solo and cannot ply their trade by inviting people do die in private servers. Plus it's not their problem. They are playing how they are allowed to play. FDev gave us other modes to avoid undesirable human (icky) contact so we can use those. It's not the alternative to open, imo. Open is the alternative to the other two modes.

Then carry on ganking. See what the end result is. If you're confident people will continue to allow you to bully them, go for it. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. I'm not really that fussed as the harassment in popular systems is too much of a nuisance for me to bother playing in open now. I don't care if you ruin it or otherwise.

Yes, if your view doesn't include a caveat of a trend that you haven't proven to exist.

The logical legitimacy of a statement isn't predicated on a caveat. I simply wanted you to acknowledge that the argument you presented in no way disproves the statement I made.

I play in solo.

But this is the caveat I mentioned. You say that as if offering a dire warning but without numbers and a trend line it's just hand waving, for intents and purposes.
