Players

Ths gives you some idea of the trends. It shows that the number of people playing is about as low as it's ever been. It isn't the total number of players, but is a good representative sample to show the trends.

Yep, almost dead now.

Frontier abandoning the CGs didn't help any. If they came up with an interesting CG, I'd probably load the game up again despite the bugs. The last "cool" CG I remember was like a year ago when we had to rescue escape pods from the Thargoids (a story that became another dead end). These "Interstellar Initiatives" are more rubbish than the old, boring CGs were.

So yeah, I traded my spaceship in for a horse! 🤠

Many people don't know this, but the saddles are rumoured to be made from the skin off the hindquarter of a certain large mammal most commonly found on the southern half of the African continent.

I could post 3000 other games that are performing worse than Elite but I am not doing it because I could just as well play chess against a pigeon.

It's quite normal inbetween updates, especially if they're bugged and unfixed for a prolonged time.
We're indeed approaching a very low point now, but we're still 1-2 months away from breaking any records with current trends.

And by that time, some new Update should be around, which historically has always spiked Player numbers up again - at least for 1-2 months.
That's how it always goes... low, spike, dropping, low, spike....
