Could Frontier please demonstrate how to use the FSS enjoyably?

This will be the part of these neither of us will ever convince the other that we’re “right” about, so there’s no point in trying. What’s right for you is right for you. What’s right for me is right for me.
No offense, but I don't really know why you keep bringing in your preferences into this, as I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Rather, you said that you're "Pretty sure I can’t see how that could be the case." when I said that the FSS is worse than what we had for finding the rarest things in the game. (If you don't like astronomical curiosities, there's still stuff like the Glowing Gas Giants.) I explained in detail why I said it's worse than what we had before for this kind of usage. (For others, it's better.) That's all.

While im here...Still cant see any reason the only way had to be taken out. How many months has it been now? We could have had this time enjoying the ADS.
So you enjoyed pressing a button for five seconds? That was all the ADS mechanic was. You got enjoyment from that, well here is some good news, that very same mechanic is still in the game. ;)

Used it for the first time last night. I did not find it un-enjoyable. I need to d a couple of hours again today during which I hope to refine my technique.

An option to disable FSS animations would be SO nice.
It's already a massive faff having to spend so much time in it 100% scanning systems to get the same info the honk used to provide about orbital relationships, so that finding a one in ten thousand system no longer takes a month of five hour sessions every day, but can instead take three to five times as long.

It's pretty much impossible when I get eye strain and the beginnings of a headache every 3 systems I scan in it because of these visuals, and have to take a 15-30 minute break before scanning another..

None taken. Text-based forum exchanges are not the ideal media for discussions like this, as it’s impossible to communicate subtle nuances, tones and inflections.

But ultimately this part of this exchange is one of preferences, and arguing or debating them is pointless and ultimately just irritates everyone, both involved and observing, and it’s not where I want this to go. I acknowledge this is worse for you because, as best I can tell, it slows you down. Can you acknowledge it is better for me because I’m slow moving anyways, and fidgety and need something to actively do, even if it is a “repetitive mini-game”?

Explaining in excruciating detail how and why this method is worse for you will not suddenly make it worse for me. It won’t change the things I find, or look for, or stumble blindly into, nor change my appreciation of them. Just like my doing the same won’t suddenly make this method better for you.

Its like asking a carpenter if he enjoyed using a hammer to bang in nails. He probably doesnt think about it until you force him to use something else.

As a carpenter I did enjoy using a hammer to pound in nails, until I started using the dense skulls of those who asked me if I wouldn’t prefer to use a hammer to pound in nails. :-D

This is the internet - arguing is what it's for.
If people just said "Oh, I see where you're coming from" then this thread would be 3 pages at most.

Good to see some useful feedback in this thread. More of that might be more productive than insulting each other & the devs.

Every now and then a bunch of trolls like to come into these threads and derail the list of constructive suggestions being put forward with a bunch of posts about how everyone should just "stop whining", because apparently they have nothing better to do. Like, if you're fine with the FSS as it is with no optional tweaks, just go and play with it as it is, and enjoy it. If you think it could be improved, that's the reason to be here, to make more suggestions for how.

Not seeing the analogy.

Yes, please, don’t disagree with anyone. Don’t offer an opposing point of view. Don’t try to stimulate different ways of thinking.

Question, would the people saying they hate the new system because it hinders finding weird orbital configurations be happier if they showed basically the old map but with black globes in place of the planets? So, they'd see the configuration, but not the planetary information.
