I have a question...Carriers and permit locks...?

This question is based on the assumption that I can use my carrier to ferry my squadron members around (durr), and provided that appropriate resources are, er, provided, I can jump it to any system I want at any time (source was pasted I'm just too lazy to go find)...

...What's stopping me taking my non elite squadron members to shinrarta so they can get good outfitting? Or taking them to any other permit locked system I have access to and they don't?

I suppose the obvious answer is they'll be left behind in the original system in the same place, cos the alternative of not being allowed to leave the carrier would be...non-viable. :D

I'd rather expect that you just found a loophole to get around individual system locks. (Might be just me, but I don't see a bit problem if a carrier can ferry people into a system they haven't earned access to. It'll only be systems with invidivual lock after all. )

Unfortunately by pointing it out, you just reduced its chance to happen to about 60%. :D

It could just prompt a warning that someone aboard doesn't have the Sol permit (or whatever) and then a swift, sharp response form system sec if you jump in and the CMDR in question launches.

Interesting point.

Should be really simple to overcome just by preventing/aborting a jump if there are "unsuitable" people aboard the carrier but FDev'll need to ensure that's in place.

And part of the solution would probably need to be the ability to dump people off your carrier if necessary.

See post above yours. What if someone logs out on your carrier and then never plays the game again. I suppose a mechanism to 'eject' commanders will be the solution, but then wha'ts stopping you griefing people by taking them 500ly outside the bubble and 'ejecting' them for fun. lol.

im assuming that if you have a carrier it will be aware of your permits and if you select a system you have not got a permit for you wont be able to jump to it..

assumption if the mother of all fudge ups.. I doubt it would have been overlooked..

Have to wait for Legs ... then you can board the offending ship and take control ;)

Erm...I don't follow. Obviously I don't expect the carrier to be able to take me places I don't have the permit for...?

Hope not serious :( . One of the main reasons I want my fleet carrier is to park it in a system that is critical to our BGS efforts. Completely coincidentally it happens to be a permit locked system. I might also want to fly a large fleet around the engineers for specials, some of these are permit locked. Then there's the elephant in the room, mentioned in the OP, shirarta. I will frequently want to move large numbers of ships between there and elsewhere in the bubble.

So yeh, please let's carry ont he discussion, cos that solution is the least acceptable of all proposed so far.

Even if you could take them to Shinrarta Dezhra, would we not expect them to be denied permission to dock, as they lack the requisite permit?
