DLC's - What do you expect in the future?

After seeing the full animal list for the base game release, & hearing Bo mention there will be "WAY" more than 50 animals, I'm expecting quite a lot of DLC's. That being said, what type of DLC's do you expect to see in the future? My expectations below:

Farm DLC. Farm building props & farm animals. There have been no goats confirmed which are usually found at Zoo's. Of course, you then have other farm animals, such as chickens, geese, horses, sheeps & cows.

Aussie DLC, as there have been no Australian Animals confirmed for the base game, except for the Croc, however no Kangaroo's, Koala's, Emu's ect.

Reptile DLC. Not a whole lot of reptiles for the base game, so I'm expecting a DLC. I'm hoping for at least a King Cobra or an Inland Taipan. I'm expecting a Green Snake also, as they're usually found at a lot of Reptile exhibits.

Bird DLC. Now this one has surprised me. Lack of birds in the base game, not even something like a Macaw, Owl, Bats, Hawks or an Eagle has been confirmed. I'm expecting this to be a thing for the future.

Seen it posted several times by a member here on the forum and so far the animals listed have been correct, so I assume it's accurate.
If you're referring to tigris115's list (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1M2U3CVMKKVC8ezdbSm9ElOHAaSnd2rDHw2ED9kd8uDM/edit#gid=0); it's excellent, but it only shows what has been revealed thus far. As such, it's nowhere near complete.

Since we're still waiting for animals to be revealed, it's hard to say what kind of DLC we might expect. That said, I'm personally hoping for aviaries and aquariums, as these would involve new tech besides new skins, rigs and animations. A farm DLC would also be pretty neat, I agree.

No, some animals on the list are yet confirmed.

Bear in mind this thread is about future DLC's.

I think we will have the tools to build aviaries quite easily, but the jury is out on whether we will get flying birds in the base game or not (peafowl only fly short distances so I’m not counting them :p)

I’m putting my money on location-based DLC (Australia, Southeast Asia, Central Anerica, Oceans etc) with a decent mix of mammals, reptiles, birds & invertebrates in each, with all fish and other ocean-dwelling creatures (if we do ever get them) coming in their own pack. The DLC would come with maybe 10-20? or so animals and new building theme or two, plus plants, themed enrichment, things like that. That’s just my prediction anyway!

I think aquatic animals are targeted. (Frontier will probably have no other choice ... ;)) Smaller ones (Piranhas, Kois etc.) in aquariums and ponds, larger ones in Basins. I'm just curious whether we'll get flying birds. Afterwards there will be a few region-based DLCs (Australia, Europe) with additional rides (river, cable car) and new building styles (for North America I would like to have tipis!!!) For more I am very, very open. I didn't play Planet Coaster - amusement parks don't interest me at all - but I'm very impressed with Frontier's brilliant job.

Why is everything in DLC? I think for Planet Zoo an expansion pack would be more logical. Of course there will be DLC with some animals like a mini pack of a certain continent or biome, but for example aviaries or aquatic/marine animals would add so many species and functions anew, I think that would be better presented with an expansion pack. I rather wait for a big pack while playing Planet Zoo, than getting a little pack with three marine animals and then three again etc. I think we'll be able to enjoy the game for a long long time as creativity with this game is almost endless.

What I would hope they will do, since expectations would only lead to disappointment:
Downloadable Content:
  • Australian Pack: containing the emu, koala and a species of wallaby (I think we will get the kangaroo in the base game, but if not it can be a kangaroo as well).
  • Petting Zoo Pack: containing farm-like building pieces to create a barn with animals like goat, sheep and donkey (and maybe pig and fowl as well)
  • South - American Pampas: I guess that if a tapir and Jaguar will be in base-game, there might be a pampas DLC with giant anteater, either the vicuña or guanaco and smaller species like capybara/mara/rhea.
  • European pack: Wildlife from Europe, with wild boars, wisent and perhaps species like the Iberian lynx or barbary apes (or an ibex, if they aren't in the base game).
  • Exhibit pack: More sizes of exhibits to pick from with new additions, like a smaller exhibit for amphibian and insects while the medium and big ones are for reptiles. Perhaps the Japanese giant salamander will get a spot in the roster here? Maybe we will get arid exhibits with frilled lizards or those blue and red agama.
  • Galliformes pack: After the aviary expansion, there might be a pack to create also some more ground dwelling aviaries, with the pheasant, turkey and grouses/quails or others.
  • Butterflies pack: After the aviary expansion with the more ambient function I mention there, butterfly gardens pack would be awesome. Imagine placing butterflies that will only stay there when you plant certain plants in the exhibit, so they can reproduce. Butterflies would be a great addition to an walk-through exhibit. It's an interesting management as well, because you'll have to add new butterflies from time to time if you don't meet the needs of the species.
Expansions:
  • Aquatic Animals Expansion: Optimizing the tank building options, creating tunnels in it for guest to walk through. Giving a lot of marine animals like sea lions, rays, sharks, fishes. Exhibits will get an option to become aquariums with small species of fish. More water-themed scenery and better water visuals.Diver staff that will clean and take care of aquatic animals.
  • Aviary Expansion: Netting options, Animals that will fly. More functions of combining animal species in a kind of Eco-display function. Free-flying shows with a new staff that will train the animals for free-flight. Animals to include are macaw, eagles, falcons, owls, ibis, stork, sierima, vulture, birds of paradise and some smaller species which could be more ambient like additions to like Eco-displays with

In today's world, they're usually known as DLC's. Only traditionally known as expansion packs. They're both the same thing however.

I don't think so... DLC's are just smaller packs, with little to now new functions, just new species. Expansions often give whole new mechanics to add to the game.
But who cares, now I think of it, it doesn't matter.

As far as I kknow steam doesn't make a difference between a dlc and an expansion, so dlc is just the new word for it.

I really hope for an marine dlc. If frontier doesn't want to deal with the wasp nest of making a dlc with orcas and dolphins and such, I still hope for seals, sea lions, walrusses and other mamals that live in the sea.
I am really not a bird person, but a bird expansion would make sense as well. Maybe with a falconer show or something like that.

I think next to the big DLCs we might get smaller packs that are maybe based on continents. Australia was a good example. Though there are so many exclusive animals in australia, that this indeed screams for a bigger dlc as well.

I don't read anything about panda bears anywhere.
Don't you like pandas?

My hopes and expectations are:

Africa Expansion - Aardvark as the #1 species that probably won't be in a base game but absolutely HAS TO BE added later...than some antelopes, primates, birds...maybe additional lemur species, some carnivore (black-backed jackals would look amazing IMO)...Mouse lemur as the animal for those small exhibits.

This can be also divided into continental Africa DLC and separate DLC for the fauna of Madagascar

Australia pack - Do I need to say more? There is literally a ton of interesting species in Australia...Different marsupials, Cassowaries, Monitors... This could also feature some species from Indonesia/New Guinea like Babirusa, Birds of Paradise...

Amazonia pack - given the current incidents, this is a no-brainer if devs really want to spread the conservation message, also as been already discussed the current game really lacks animals from this area.

Or they could go the way of species-specific expansions such as already mentioned Carnivore pack, Birds pack with aviaries, primate pack...the options are endless
