Word from AXI is the tissue sample comes up as a Basilisk one.

That pushes me to think the NO might be an error if it has the wrong sample assigned to it

Edit: on the wiki it says that this variant seems more armoured than a cyclops. Maybe it's a different subspecies of thargoid, and we have three more variants to come which are upgraded versions of the basilisk, medusa and hydra.

I think it's a bit early to judge this as "just another flower ship". Something else is going on here, both with it's style, appearance and tactics. It doesn't fit the usual MO.

I'll be happy to eat these words when these start showing up in NHSS and behaving just the same as some between-basilisk-and-cyclops variant.

Chase it with a Racer-build Courier with those gnawing limpets on board (bit like this baby) ... that'd be something new to do beyond PvP and trenchrunning for such racers.

Watch the video. I don't dally around once out of glide to try to catch it. Its not slow.
I am of the school of thought that this is either a mistake or was never meant to be scanned/sampled so no one bothered to clean up the scan image and sample return.
