New Thargoid variant

Thanks. I'll keep trying. Definitely seen it being chased and fired at by the scouts. Also once had a Python which seemed to jump with them, but guessing that was just coincidence.

That Thargoid ship looks like it's infected with something. I first thought the canopy was human made, but up close it looks Thargoid. Just a stronger canopy.
Maybe that's it. This ship could be a beserker infected with a new mycoid virus to give us the upper hand once again. It would explain why it's fired upon if this gets back to the hive they would be incapacitated again till they sort it or a Turner defendant nicks the cure and gives it to them thus starting an accord.

So, thing getting my goat right now is that Galnet is still quiet. I would've assumed that when someone flicked the on-switch they would've had the relevant articles ready-to-go, or a couple variants based on any actions by commanders.
Last night Will was interviewed by a streamer. At the end of the interview (which didn't mention the Orthrus) he was asked if there was anything he could hint at, anything interesting. Did he mention the new Thargoid, ...

(tl; dw: Nope)

Because FD is known for it's perfect Galnet article timing or how do you get that notion? 😂
Well, given we're not getting fluff articles anymore, I just thought, y'know, maybe that effect would be noticed :sneaky:

CONFIRMED ! NEW THARGOID IS A PIDGEON-HYBRID.

I have some idea:
Like we see, FDevs are trying to convice us that we should fight with Thargoids. Palin case, Witch Head, barnacle harvest, almost whole "Enclave" was focused around Thargoids. Also they gave us the bobblehead which can be obtained with Thargoid heart. Some of us are not quite sure about war with Thargs, some are not able to solo-kill Interceptors.
Maybe this new Thargoid have some kind of disease which will make them weaker and easier target in the nearest future.

So, I don't think the ship is "infected", I think it's dead. I think it's already died to the mycoid, which has been scrubbed from the hulk, and then human technology "integrated" into the Thargoid in order to drive it's systems.

It has to be Human Thargoid Hybrid!

Players found it fleeing from Palin's old base where they did research on Thargoid tech. We can see a wing of scouts in hot pursuit. The cockpit looks to be more "human" like. And even the name: Orthrus. A two headed dog from ancient mythology. To me it symbolizes that one head is Thargoid and the other is Human.

FD dont script individual one-off events, they never have, those events are handled by Galnet.
If multiple Cmdrs have seen the ship take off and jump out multiple times, then the ship has taken off and jumped out multiple times.

So its cant be a hybrid escaping/being rescued, its something that has a reason to be landed at Palins, to run away when hoomuns arrive, and to return to complete its job.

So, I went there... was not disappointed.

BTW, where's the name "Pigeon John's Nest" come from? I can't see it anywhere, just "Civilian Installation".
It used to be called that (first the Outpost, then the Installation - see https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-enclave-overview-of-phases.515986/post-7914939). Today it's just called Civilian Installation, and the Uplinks are still b0rked. I raised this with Will and the team is looking into it. So maybe it will change again :)

Edit: Also : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-enclave-overview-of-phases.515986/post-7914874 (that thread has the whole history, but is massive because .. Beryllium)

Everyone seems to think that its human copying thargoid tech. It could be the other way round. Haven't the thargoid been doing scans of our ships schematics for some time know. They maybe implementing a supercruise type module into their ships. That could be why we can see it on our scanners as it is similar to the FSD drive.

Or more than one ship has taken off and jumped out.

Possibly there's a whole fleet of them showing up, robbing the base, and jumping out again for the latest Thargoid Salvage CG.

I don't suppose you can remember if you saw it in the Nav Panel, I';m pretty sure it wasn't there earlier, but now:

141613

So I'm not sure if they've altered it, or I just didn't pay attention 🤔
