Jameson wrong station image on HUD during SC??

Maybe it's just me but SC-ing towards Jameson and the station image on HUD displays the wrong type.

It shows one of those big ringed Orbis stations.

Once out of SC it switches to the correct Jameson model.

Anyone else notice this or is it normal or is spacenuts kicking in again?

X.

I've noticed it before, I don't think it's related to the September update. Not sure about Jameson but it's certainly true the wrong type (large ring) can show in SC. I assume it's just there's only 1 Orbis style schematic to cover all the Orbis types in SC.

Yup, QA confirmed it's by design, there's one (supercruise) schematic per station type, it doesn't take into account minute variations like rings or arrangement of outpost modules.

This is not a bug, guys. Relax.
@Jukelo explained it perfectly above. It was always like this with every type of station.

Someone thought it was a bug before. Issue report from Issue tracker:

closed with following comment:
"Status By Design
The schematic in the GUI whilst in supercruise is a generic "This is an Orbis station" schematic, not the more precise targeted object schematic. When you drop into the instance and target the station, it will provide the correct schematic."

Really? I'm looong out of supercruise and HUD is still showing the wrong station type. So I don't take the "by design" horse pucky. They must think we're dumb.
This is last night at exactly 20:37 UTC+2, during Toasted Beluga Fiasco II.

QA's comment (and the bug report it was posted on) refers to supercruise.

Naaa, somethings not right, but it iz what it iz.

Close out this post mods. X.

I went to check it, it doesn't change until you ask for the landing, it's a bit ridiculous, I don't know if it always worked like this ... the alignment with the station is still not very well oriented, that's the weird thing.it's not just you

When you ask for permission to land, you also target the station. Then it also becomes color coded depending on your reputation -before targetting 3d station image is still generic and white.

Really, I know recent updates are a mess, but look for problems elsewhere, this seems to be working as always.

I tried to explain to the guy that not only you need target the station to change HUD, you need to ask permission.

then it doesn't change if you just traget.I went to check for him instead of saying what I believed.

Now give me a logical explanation to me because the stations are misaligned.

I think the game would improve if you stop justifying its failures design, why would a station that I have in front of my eyes be generic? GOD

I don't even care at all, and maybe I don't help, but you don't do a better job either.

Sounds like you do care, not sure why.

The OP's problem is something that isn't a bug, a single Orbis schematic in SC, been like that forever afaik. The alignment of the schematic is a bug, if it's still happening.

I'm only explaining to you that it always was like that and it's not a bug.

I'm not justifying design choices, but games work in certain way, not always perfect.
In game there's usually an SC target that's later (when you drop to normal space) placed at the center of the instance. For example Nav Beacon has instance target, which is abstract point in space. This is basically the same target you see in Supercruise. When you enter normal space, Navigational Beacon is separate object you need to target. The same goes for Stations, both in space and on planets.
Supercruise target has it's own generic "icon". When dropping to normal space, you're still targetting this one and need to switch to object, if there's one.

the guy said that something was wrong or something was not going well, everything that you are telling me I already know, you said that it changed when target and it does not work that way with the stations,u need ask permission before..
I even said I didn't know if it was like that before, I see what you read....so I assumed that what I saw wrong could be misalignment

and you start saying things that don't matter to me, just i tried to help the guy,I don't know what you want to defend or attack .
