This is what I got for 2.5 hours of mining

View attachment 146487

After 2.5 hours of mining and selling the minerals. Frontier, this is not "free ARX". This is an insult.

I don't feel rewarded for playing. I feel mocked.

I understand the need for funds for continuous development, as I have spent a considerable amount of money on the game in the past 4+ years. But this system is not an incentive to play. It's essentially mocking players when they exit their session. If you really think 2-3 hours of daily gameplay is worth this much then you simply don't understand how these systems should work. 400 ARX per week is low enough as it is, clearly not breaking your bank. At least let us reach it with normal, active gameplay. Make it an incentive, an encouragement to play. Or remove this insulting system completely.

When I give a gift to someone, I want it to be meaningful, regardless of financial value. But I wouldn't give a box of toothpicks as a gift. The current system feels exactly like that.
They are comps, at a casino. The idea is to keep you playing for the maximum time.

If it feels like so much of an insult that it needs a 3 paragraph rant why don't you just ignore the system? It physically didn't exist before the sept update.

Personally I'm grateful that Fdev have allowed an ingame way, capped or not, of earning enough currency to be able to use the store. I'm not crying poverty but I couldn't justify paying any money on top of the game for 'fluff'. Arx means I don't need too and I earn it by doing exactly what I was doing before it poofed into existence.

Stop complaining and chill

Somebody mentioned charity. Good idea. FDev can send all the cash equivalent of any arxs I earn directly to Great Ormond Street (children's hospital). I don't want them, not interested.

OP should donate all his too as punishment for being a greedy whinger.

Last weekend I earned weekly cap in 2 days. I did a cca 50KLy trip, mostly with neutron plotter. My discovery was about 90 jumps in undiscovered systems, earned my destination, maded few screenshots then headed back to home. On all way back with neutron plotter. It was few sessions per day for about 10-12 arx per sessions. So I did'nt had 100 arx total before I sold my data, and at the end I had weekly cap. I wasn't in danger on my trip, I'm a bit seasoned traveler, so where is the danger?
Nowhere?

Why are you asking me again? Thought this thread was about mining.

This would be an epic option tbf

The free arx are just bait to get us to buy some
Yeah.

The disparity between how much arx you earn plus weekly limit compared to the prices for say a simple paint job is too large. I was hoping I could make arx in my alt-account (bought a bunch for my primary already), but now I realize it'll take months and months of hard work just to afford a simple paint job or cockpit deco.

And part of the problem is that begin an American, my credit card needs approval everytime I make a purchase in UK, so it's very annoying to pay real money. They used to have Paypal on the webstore. If that comes back, then I can buy something, but as of now, I'm won't.

I would happily donate mine to charity. Suggestion time?

My bank hates non-US transactions. :(

Frontier is the charity. :(

I don't know why and how but I agree with everyone in this thread.
Arx is not the reason to play the game. But they were introduced as a kind of reward for spending time and doing stuff in the game. A trick to recall people in the game. If this is not well balanced the trick simply doesn't work and this is more an issue for FDEV than for players. Imagine all this development time and players frustration for nothing
It is a reward... but only if you ever going to be able to use it. 2550 arx for a paint job. Max 400 a week (which takes a lot of effort to reach), that's 6 weeks of intense and focused, full time job, for one single item. Average player maybe will only do 200 / week, which then means 12 weeks (3 months). Which means 4 / year. Basically, to me it means I'm just going to forget the arx. If I one day have enough for something on my alt-account, then so be it, but it's too remote to be of interest.

In No Man's Sky, it takes a week or less, to make enough quicksilver to buy something. It feels more rewarding to reach for the goals when it's within one's lifetime. Too far out, we (humans), or most of us at least, won't have attention span long enough to get bothered.

FDev just needs to rebalance it a bit. Perhaps increase weekly limit to 500, or maybe even 1000, and increase the arx payouts for some missions. I think data scanning doesn't pay arx at all?!? And trading I think is also none. But jumping 5 jumps does. it's a bit strange "payout" at the moment.

^^
This.

There is a current "game" that has been stuck in the purgatory loop of pre-alpha status for the last 6+ years. It boasts a global, rabidly over zealous fan base community which orbits a few megalodoon whale backers. Yet this "game" has become infamous for being the poster child of executive ineptitude and mismanagement. Here in the US, many of these whale fan boys live in very gentrified, high wealth enclaves the likes of San Francisco/Bay Area, Santa Monica, and Silicon Valley CA. This "game" apparently went P2W over a year ago with the likes of $27K whale ship packages. A drop in the bucket if you're a single, white collar professional living in said high wealth enclaves. Where the average IT professional salary is $110K - $130K+ USD for entry level college grads.

Possessing more money than common sense isn't necessarily a good thing. However whale fan boys with highly disposable incomes have the prerogative to dispose of said income in any way they see fit. Provided their spending habits don't impact the community's online game mechanic. Such as unbalancing game play with expensive P2W content and/or loot box performance enhancing features. Which provide unfair competitive advantages and ruin game progression for the gaming community as a whole.

The new Arx system is irrelevant to game progression as long as FDev restricts it to cosmetic only items. If players don't care for this feature, then ignore it. Just go about your business enjoying the game the way you did before Arx came along IMO.

OTOH allowing envy to make you it's new female lap dog? Feel free to go the extreme route that cuts off your nose to spite your face. Vote with your wallet by quitting the game and any future support for it.

Because the Arx phenomenon is here to stay. And the designated rate at which this feature is earned in game, remains the sole prerogative of FDev and not player community.
Make that $60,000, tops, considering long stretches of unemployment. :(

I don't think it works that way.

Mine too. Not really hate, but it's tricky. Sometimes I get the VISA popup login window to confirm the payout that way, but I can never get it to work. One time my card got blocked instead so I had to release it. Too much work to even bother. Paypal is the way I purchase foreign things to avoid the hassle.

I get called to confirm I attempted the transaction. It's nice to know the safeguards are there. Bad news for Frontier, though.

Yeah. After the last update, I did a purchase to test, and my wife got called and she was out riding. Decided it wasn't worth pursuing when she asked me later in the day what it was about. My alt-acct will stay vanilla.

If FDev could perhaps have a few paint jobs for cheap? Like the plain color ones could be say 500 arx. At least it would be something to reach for.
