This is what I got for 2.5 hours of mining

If it was about enjoyment they would have credited people for the years we have spent playing the game. Do not mistake this as some heartfelt love for the gamer, ARX were placed in for the psychological manipulation.

What I said was that obviously consumers should play a game because they enjoy it, not because they might get 24p per week. What I obviously did not say was that FD pays you for enjoying their product, because that is, you know, a pretty stupid notion.

Am I the only one that sees this? The earn rate was made useless on purpose, to be used as positive marketing and huge psychological manipulation, while in no way being realistic to earning anything.
Yes, you are absolutely the only one that sees it, because you are very special and unique. At no point has there been a discussion in this topic where everyone involved readily understood this to be part of a marketing campaign way before you barged in with your passionate speeches. Free Arx is primarily a way to offer a discount in order to entice people to spend more. Oh my, the evil manipulation of corporate greed! A discount! And they would have gotten away with it if not for you meddling kids! Anyway, I already can buy my first paint job for free and have not bought any arx yet. Weird.

However leave it to a clueless forum dad to completely devalue someone's opinion due to their own ignorant zealousness.

Ignoring the irony of ending your rant on that note, I lament how it apparently only takes six months to go from graduation to becoming a forum dad. Sed fugit interea, fugit inreparabile tempus... :(

A modest proposal to FD:

GET THE SNOWFLAKE BOBBLEHEAD BACK FOR 1 ARX. NOW!

Seriously, it's the only way this debacle can end.

I know there's a lot in that post, but this right here, the very beginning, is a real whammy of an opening.

It means nothing. It makes no sense. "If it was about enjoyment", FA-off turn-and-burn reversal to "compensate us for playing the game".

I just passed 500 ARX, in about three weeks, and two days. Most of it came from materials trading, engineering, and outfitting. Didn't change my playstyle at all. I just created ships from my pile of spare engineered parts.
Good job! 500 arx. Still only halfway there myself. 500... sheesh, you can buy... uh... nothing. :D

After 2.5 hours of mining and selling the minerals. Frontier, this is not "free ARX". This is an insult.

I don't feel rewarded for playing. I feel mocked.

I understand the need for funds for continuous development, as I have spent a considerable amount of money on the game in the past 4+ years. But this system is not an incentive to play. It's essentially mocking players when they exit their session. If you really think 2-3 hours of daily gameplay is worth this much then you simply don't understand how these systems should work. 400 ARX per week is low enough as it is, clearly not breaking your bank. At least let us reach it with normal, active gameplay. Make it an incentive, an encouragement to play. Or remove this insulting system completely.

When I give a gift to someone, I want it to be meaningful, regardless of financial value. But I wouldn't give a box of toothpicks as a gift. The current system feels exactly like that.

God, if only credits were as hard to earn....we would have something resembling a space sim.

I'e heard that grinding Arx now uses an estimated 61.76 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity per year - more than many countries and approximately 0.28% of total global electricity consumption.

So for 2.5 hours of mining there were no Cr rewards when you sold?

One mining session is one mining session. You'll need to do a lot of various stuff to get more Arx. Consider it like coins in Super Mario.

I don't think the intent of Arx, from a gameplay perspective, is to reward you for doing what you would be doing without any additional reward. Like engineering, it seems geared toward encouraging players to step out of their tedium laced comfort zones to explore more aspects of the galaxy and the game. If you were to trade, mine, explore, fight, SRV around, buy and sell modules and ships, engineer, etc.. in one session you might get more Arx.

Or just go buy Arx.

OP, I'm not sure I agree with your perspective on this matter given that whatever the amount of Arx you earn, it is still effectively a windfall that wasn't previously available.

By any standards, that's a win-win, right? Well, provided you have the mental fortitude to vanquish the in-game subliminal advertising to buy Arx in order to fast-track purchases....& let's face it, if you are that weak-willed then meh, you fully deserve to be mocked, insulted & ultimately rinsed by Frontier's marketing.

The only valid point you have is the possible implied sub-text pertaining to the balance of payouts from mining compared to other activities...but this imbalance is present with credits too. Hence it could be argued that at least Frontier have been congruent in their incongruity.

Having said that, you have managed to wind-up Ian 'Sanctimonious' Skippy...so obviously it's a big fat +1 from me!😁

Argghh 5pm - no time to check

I'm hitting my ARX cap by the 3rd or 4th day after the reset. I'm just playing the game. Doing the things I enjoy to do. It's funny though, because I'm not actually planning on buying skins or anything. When I'm in the cockpit, it's not like I care what my ship looks like. I have enough trouble flying without being worried about the external camera.

I'm curious OP, are you a millennial?

When I logged out last night, the game said it was unable to update my Arx balance. So I got less than OP (for more effort since I played for a good 4+ hours - and doing lots of combat). Full Disclosure: I don't care.

When that message displays, it should just update next time you log in.

i've kinda stopped playing too...

the system works for some players? but until their playstyle is nerfed there won't be a discussion... their heads are so far up their own arxholes they would rather login to the forums to drown out your complaint because that's part of their pigeon superstition ritual so nothing changes and they can continue maxing their weekly cap.
