You need EDProfiler. I'll start with tweaking with the presets.

The Rift S works fine. It runs. With minimal settings. I got a 1660ti (the one that fried itself and is being replaced) that does much better. Can run high/medium settings with that. Though... playing with low/off this past week I'm impressed with how used to it I got, and maybe I'll try leaving the special effects off to see if 1660ti can run some supersample.Crap - does ED not run well with the "s"? The oculus site said 970 would run it.?!
Wait a minute... you fly a Beluga, right?Had someone tell me if you unplug your monitor you get better performance. Dont know for sure though, dont have VR. But i guess its worth a try
After hearing this stuff i might grab one of those samsung ones for christmasWait a minute... you fly a Beluga, right?
...and you don't have VR....
Man, are you missing some great stuff!
Re: Unplugging monitors - there was an issue early in the Rift S driver development where 'issues' occured if you had a second monitor attached, but I think it was resolved (have to say think as I only have room for one 32" monitor on my desk...)
You'll be your own best friend....After hearing this stuff i might grab one of those samsung ones for christmas
PSVR was/is excellent 1st generation hardware on a platform that it pushed beyond the pale...Rift S is on my wishlist for Black Friday. I'm just not fully convinced that I'll use VR that much... I was a bit underwhelmed by PSVR, though I suppose that's like comparing a Ford Aspire to a Ford Mustang. Thoughts?
I have a standard Rift, would you mind to explain what are the changes in your experience? I know the technical differences but how do these affect the personal experience between the 2 versions?Yes, it will work - a bit like @Bloodsign - you may have to turn things down a little, but at least the Rift S display running at 80Hz 'gives back' some performance headroom over the Rift etc. so you should just jump in and play, enjoy! Going from the Rift to Rift S, for me, was a great move!
Apart from the lack of wired sensors for the Rift S: (a bit obvious)I have a standard Rift, would you mind to explain what are the changes in your experience? I know the technical differences but how do these affect the personal experience between the 2 versions?
But be aware of laptop limitations - you will need a Display Port / Mini DP on your laptop that is connected directly to the GPU chipset, not the Intel graphics...
This is my concern, because my passion for ED is waning. Perhaps VR will change this, but it's a lot of $$ if not. There are also some very good games in VR other than ED...

A good chance the laptop will work without issue - the nice thing is that if you buy from an online retailer there will be a 'return window' for you to try it out and return it should it not work/impress the socks off you.I've got a type-C USB 3.1, a mini DisplayPort connection, and a full-size HDMI out (along with 3 USB 3.0 ports). This is fed by a GeForce 1660ti.

Honest and as unbiased as I can be![]()
I didn't think you were referring to me , so no worries at all! - I was trying to answer a question without going OTT in favour of the S - I've had both original and the S so felt able to pick out good and bad.oops, didn't mean you
it's just natural that people already into vr and wanting to max out their experience worry about these things, but not everybody is bothered by the same. for someone that is considering vr for the first time that's a bit moot, imo, and the price difference to cover that extra half a mile is huge, while good vr is still readily available for cheap. the most important bit is actually still a graphics card capable enough. (@Duck, i have no idea about laptop graphics cards ....)
You should at least try Subnautica if you haven't already. It was by far the easiest game yet to set up for VR (literally just clicked "run in VR" in Steam) and works with my XBox 360 controller.I've got a type-C USB 3.1, a mini DisplayPort connection, and a full-size HDMI out (along with 3 USB 3.0 ports). Dude, i have an 860k black, 8gb (upgrading to 16 soon). Might get myself that samsung headset if a 1050ti can do vr
