Ships Vulture An ode to the Vulture

The Vulture is op. I use dual efficient PAs with dispersal field and target lock breaker. Engineer the heck out of everything and you're unstoppable. I'm partial to biweaves with reinforced and fast charge. I'm sure it isn't pvp worthy, but I fear nothing in the haz res.

Its completely pvp worthy.
Although i would suggest thermall resist fast charge on your shielding.
With 2 res augmented boosters with force block you have better res balance.
Two high cap chaff round out a very capable build.
It only needs g5 reo pp to power it so heat isnt a big issue and it lasts much longer in a rail attack situation.

Its so agile you really dont have to fear the pa meta ships as much as usual.
The double chaff and great resistances counter the gimbled hitscan and kinetics.

I usually roll with efficient pas or pacifier frags.

It's been some time, since I last sat in my Vulture and after THIS thread here, I decided to give her a little bit of love and refitted her. Yesterday I made my first ride-out and contested her with some of my squad-mates. What should I say?

What a hell of a babe she is. I won against a PA FDL, against a MC FDL, a Frag Mamba and against a Frag Challenger. They all saw no light at the end of the tunnel. Then those 2 FDL-Pilots asked for a 2vs1. Well, I'm not THAT hell of a hotshot, but still stood my ground for 8+ minutes.

My love for the Vulture is renewed and it will last for the forseen future. One has to force me to get out of her cockpit again.

There is no video of that session. It was an internal training-session with my squad-mates.
Thanks for the flowers, but no, I don't consider myself to be a good PvPer just a good pilot. ☺

On the long run, I win about the same as I loose fights, so it's still counting 50:50. I just have the most secure feeling in the vulture according to her agility. She's simply too quick for those meta PA- and Rail-boats. It just takes eternities to finish a duel. 20-30 min. in the average.
The Vulture is a great boat to begin PvP.

As I stated earlier: The Vulture is proof that it takes a good pilot with skill and no Meta-PvP-Murderboat, to stand ones ground. That's the most important lesson I learned and others forgot. They're all about grinding the hell out of the game for this Murder-Meta-FDL and still are rage quitting if someone like me, in a Vulture, tear their ship apart, piece by piece and calling me a cheater (to remain polite in this forum). ;)

And to be honest: Against our "full-time" PvPers in the squad I still don't see any chance to stay alive yet or even to win a fight, but they admit that this is only because lack of skill and experience. All in all they are impressed and are really thinking about refitting their Vultures. 😁

I actually have two (offcourse)
one with a c4 prism with a c5 scb (Why do his shields not go down remarks are great!!)

I like pulse lasers with phasing and Scramble Spectrum. With options like rapid fire/sturdy mount/short range
This is more for pve as it requires no reloads

"Why does her shields don't go down"...This was THE wording I heard all the time via teamspeak during our training-session. 😂
And how dillusionized my mates were, when I told them these were Bi-Weaves "only". They simply didn't hit me often enough. And THAT'S what the Vulture is designed for: Hitting hard and not get hit.(y)

That build is close to my own. With a few changes.

I also use two frags, but rapid fire, screening shell. It uses the ammo very quickly, but it seems more efficient during combat because the reload time is less than a second (~6 times faster than yours), meaning that you can fire more often. If you miss a shot or fire too early, when the opponent is too far away, then you don't have to wait five more seconds to shoot again, so my experience is that even though each shot has less DPS (3.6 against your 4.6) the total DPS that I land is higher. It very much depends on your fighting style. I hope that mumbo makes sense. Otherwise try it out :)

For the powerplant I went for armoured and monstered. It does not deliver quite as much power as your build, but it runs slightly cooler, which is worth taking into consideration, if you run plasmas or rails.

I run lightweight alloy hull, to get my total mass below the "minimum mass" of the drag drives. I also use a 2C fuel tank, because you normally don't jump a lot in this ship. Keeping the mass below the minimum mass will ensure you that you get maximum speed and agility. You can easily check that using Coriolis. Go to "Profiles", and look at the curve. You want to keep the vertical line to the left of the point where the curve starts dropping.

And according to jumprange, this babe was intended to be a kind of "Fast Response Ship" within our bgs-bubble wich is about 250 ly wide, when things going to be ugly for our bgs-team.
I will take your hints into consideration. I was out to refit my FAS anyway this week so I can take a look to optimise my sweety too. ;)

Well, all my ships are WIP. As much as i like flying them, I also like engineering them, and the better I get flying them, the more I realize that some of my builds are not optimal anymore. Some of my current builds, on the other hand, wouldn't have worked when my skills were even worse than they are today :)

Another "small" ship that has recently resurfaced from my garage is the ASPx. I used it a lot early in the game, and got really tired of it. I've mostly been exploring in a Conda, but that has become boring. Instead I was looking for a smaller ship, with a decent jump range, and a good view (VR) from the cockpit. For that the ASPx seemed perfect, and once I started engineering it, it really came to life. Compared to how I remembered it, it's now a completely different ship. The only large ship I currently use is my Corvette, mainly for "mining" materials at a CNB.

My favorite ship is still the Mamba. That one I just use to fly around and gaze at the galaxy. Sort of my leisure ride.

My "biggest" ship is a Python...some sort of my "leisure boat" for bgs-work. Works for everything. My AspX is just a build out of spare-parts i found in my hold. I use it as a multi-miner with everything on it to exploit every 'roid. For exploration I use a fully fitted DBX. This one is my favorite besides the Vulture .

I also like the DBX, but it simply can't fuel scoop fast enough for my taste (I scoop hammer down). I have build my ASPx so that it runs very cool, meaning that I can start charging the FSD while still scooping. I don't stop and scan the system (I know :rolleyes:). Instead I often just need to get to some preselected system that I have read about, so calling it exploring is a stretch. I used the Mamba to go to Sag A* (sort of in a straight line), and even though I didn't even honk the horn, it still got me to Pioneer as explorer rank.

With a class 5 slot the DBX would be just perfect, but I guess we won't see that. Another engineering of the fuel scoop increasing the Rate (kg/s) would also do the job, but I'm pretty sure we won't see that either ;) It's a shame, because I like the snug cockpit of the DBX, and the handling. I have messed around with different DBX builds, but haven't found any that scoop fast enough, so if you know of something like that, please let me know.

No, really, I have to dissapoint you on that one. The DBX runs ice-cold but at the cost of long scooping times. I used to honk and scan the first objects via FSS while hanging around my "pitstop" to fill the sparetime. Often enough I found myself surprised, when Verity called:"Fuel Scoop complete" ;)

I do like bounty hunting grinding in a vulture. Cheap ship, so it doesn't matter if you get too greedy with no hull left and end up dying. Makes about the same amount of credits per hour as a conda in a res (you're limited by the frequency of wanted guys once you reach the killing power of the vulture). Even with 0 engineering.

Makes you think twice about wanting an fdl. Which is a shame. FDL's are so sexy.
