More options for ships with fighter bays installed

greetings.
I would like to suggest a new option for the use of the fighter bay in the elite dangerous, the function of storing and firing heavy tactical weaponry as some attack aircraft do.

I really like ships like the Krait MK2, Gunship and Crusader but the fighter bays don't really suit my playing style very well, I would like a wider variety of options to use with them, like large long-range missiles, high-capacity torpedo launchers, automatic turret launchers, larger sink banks and other disposable devices.

I like the idea of using that huge bay at the bottom of the ship, but I really don't like changing the menu to keep ejecting the fighter whenever he dies. At least I would like a direct command on the controller just to launch the fighter with the NPC ready inside.

sorry for any failure of my translation. I'm using google...

So you basically want to turn the fighter bay into an ultra-massive-huge hardpoint?

Which target would those special weapons be made for? I do not think that we need even bigger anti-ship weapons than we already have. Especially considering that most ships with SLF capability already field very high firepower, I would not think that they need the help of such an extremely big extra hardpoint.

maybe as an Anti-Carrier weapon? Hmm... nope, carriers are rumored to be invulnerable. Actually they are only rumored.

Yea. As far as i know, destructible carriers are not on the plan. Anyway, for the suggestion at hand, as long as we don't have specific targets for new special weapons, we also don't need those weapons.

Also, it might be just me, but if you use a ship with SFL capability but don't use it, you get a rather large internal slot instead. Which can be something like a big SCB for example. I think there is some inherent advantage in not using a SLF already now.

I'd much prefer a 'collector ship' rather than something else for combat, something that could be used to collect cargo/materials/mining fragments and a 'rescue ship' that could carry out hull repairs and re-fueling.

Neat as a 200 missile swarm launcher would be to see in action once or twice, I am not sure it really fits in the game. Improvised weapons would make sense from a lore perspective, but in game implementation would be a serious pain. Yes, I want it, but no, we really shouldn't.

One of the books had a conda that had repurposed it's cargo hold (in essense, the fighter bay for us) with a huge missile battery that could independently track hostile ships and launch multiple missiles simultaneously to each hostile.

Such nifty weapons would be cool but it would require that fdev fix large ships to behave like large ships and small ships to behave like small ships so that the larger ships had some kind of downside to such a massive amount of weaponry.

In this example, the missile payload was like a one time use deal. They all fired at once and I believe it caused some amount of damage doing so .... that guy died eventually despite the cool weapon ...but hey.. they're missiles and and missiles are kind of stupid in space.

@Darth Ender - "....they're missiles and and missiles are kind of stupid in space. "

I disagree. I think missiles would be the go to weapon of choice for space based combat. They relatively small deliver a massive bang for their buck fast self guiding highly maneuverable requiring deliberate defensive measures be taken in order to defend against them.

I quite like the idea of using the SLF bay as a more utility-based hardpoint, it opens up a lot of potential design space as well as making the Keelback more useful. The only thing that I'd say is that whatever is mounted there should require a crew member to operate, similar to a SLF; this could even be used to add in other rank types beyond combat for our crew to make them more ready for further crew developments down the line.

Another suggestion from the past for SLF hangars is to allow them to carry oversized SRVs, giving a bit more scope to ground operations.

I'd also very much be in support of adding in noncombat SLFs, such as mining, collector and exploration fighters.
