Fleet Carriers - a few questions for those that love to speculate

I don't think the 16 ship capacity is speculation since they stated that fact:

It says the number of pads, nothing about the number of ships that can dock. Space stations have limited pads but can dock thousands of ships. It may limite you to a certain number of your own ships plus other player ships, or it might indeed be 1 ship per pad.

But as far as i've seen no official statement has been made.

Makes sense to me...

It depends on how Cobra handles the POIs- a system has a set limit (or seems to) for USS signals, which are pointers to an instance. If you had 100 FC POIs would that reduce USS generation, or does Cobra see them separately? I'm looking forward to quizzing FD about this on a livestream.

Does the video show the pads rotating? Docking pads are much wider below decks and they all look squished quite close. It might be that its 1 ship per pad, and that for the first time we have pads that keep orientation the same- possibly paving the way for the same elsewhere in New Era.

Then we should cough up some money so someone in FD can go back to school to learn English because they used the word CAPACITY, they didn't say 'LANDING PADS', they didn't say 'HANGARS', they said CAPACITY which to my colonial way of interpretation would seem to mean the capacity, i.e. the amount one can fit or carry, that the carrier is capable of.

Another question: FCs can jump at will, but do they act like capital ships with the cool Voldemort lightning cloud? If FCs are a hybrid of megaship and cap ship:

We get the jump animation, but how does a ship 'arrive'? Does it only arrive when we arrive at the destination as a POI (so we never get to see it turn up cap ship style).

Will we see other megaships do this in New Era (i.e. depart like capships) with missions to retreat them?

It does say "Capacity", and then the next line down, it says "16 pads", not "16 ships". The language is pretty ambiguous. Perhaps intentionally so because they had not decided yet at the time of that media release. So, I am not going to take that to mean either only 16, or more than 16 until Fdev is a bit more clear on the subject.

Landing pad capacity? As opposed to how many ships can be stored.

16 might be the limit for how many ships can be docked when people are online, not how many can be stored.

Think about space stations, where you can have a whole fleet docked, thousands of people could be docked there, but if they all logged in at the same time, then it will split them between different instances.

I did not follow the discussions too much on the FC, but the ships from other Cmdrs will can dock on my FC ?

And if these Cmdrs supply fuel and supplies, will they have to pay me ?

This is getting embarrassing ...

There is a bit of difference between the size of a fleet carrier (going on the limited images that FD have released) and the size of a station, even an outpost.

But yeah, fill your boots, plan to have your entire 38 ship inventory nice and safe in your one and only Fleet Carrier, I really hope you can do it, I really do. But then if that does happen all the will occur is people will complain on the forums how the Fleet Carrier breaks known laws of physics by cramming more ships in a space that physically isn't there.

All I know is I am not planning on having more than 16 ships on a carrier if I do decide to buy one :D

I thought only those invited could land- i.e. wings or squadron mates.
I don't know.

In your opinion, the ships of the other Cmdrs (excluding wings and squadrons) who are invited will be able to come on my FC (in addition to my ships, wings, squadrons ...) and they will have to pay for the fuel and the supplies ?

It's a possibility ?

Have you not even heard of the Tardis?

And to pre-empt the complainants I have three letters: FTL

runs back to safe corner...

I pretty much hope they use a different docking mechanism without the pad turning, hell perhaps even without entering hangar.
That would hopefully include no more ships then pads.
