On a related note, is the summer update being formally called part of the Beyond season?
I though Chapter 4 was the official end?

You must admit, in the aftermath of the update leading to the open letter there were some nice bugs. I recall being stopped in my tracks with engineering until someone posted a workaround.
Indeed, it is being delivered with a headliner feature originally slated for what was supposed to be the final beyond update in December 2018.
I haven't payed much attention though so I may have missed any specific mentions or implementations of improved ice planet environments, scatter rock system improvements and various ambient effects. I can't say I've been following in the greatest detail once the major update frequency seemed to drop post beyond chapter 4.
Possibly, FD are maintaining the deadness currently felt so that everyone weeps with excitement when the exciting new stuff trundles into view.
People asked for exactly that in the open letter remember, FDEV were just tailoring their delivery to what some of us asked for.
I'd have been fine with them being a bit buggy and out already since I expect a few teething issues with new stuff and don't get upset about it.
Oh, this again.
Unfortunately a bit buggy was never an option. It would have been utterly broken and in shambles. After all, Frontier decided they needed half a year to fix them.
Not at all. I avoided remote engineering for the first 24 hrs till they patched that and pressed '4' twice to clear a single mission board lock, which they patched soon after. Hardly gamebreaking.
Compare that with anything Bethesda ever made for a reality check on how "buggy" it was for a bit before they fixed it. Whilst bearing in mind Bethesda's stuff just stays bugged a lot of the time.
I'm not overly bothered by a few minor graphics tweaks either way.
For me it wasn't just remote. I needed effects applied and flew out to the bases and still had non-functional menus I couldn't escape.
I've only recently played Bethesda "published" games. Either way though, not being the worst doesn't make you good IMO.
And yet it probably means something for someone. I'm not here to tell others how much the means they get their jollies or what they look forward to is or isn't valid when it gets delayed.
I certainly do not think the game is dead.
However...
What I would really like to know?
Is where is the best discussion about Elite?
It really should be this forum...
But this forum certainly is Not!
Reddit seems to full of random stuff that is not that interesting...
Steam forums have some interesting stuff, but it is just OK...
Inara certainly has some more in depth stuff, but trying to sort though the role playing stuff, is quite difficult... (though I wish them the best, it is their game to...)
Sometimes you just want to be able to find the relevant info.
Cheers
Needed or wanted ?. No real rush. The fix was to press '4' or wait a day. No biggie, I just flew a different ship for a bit.
Teething bugs always happen on release, the difference is FDEV actually fix them. If you ever try fallout 4 you can get the Brahmin off the roof with a ladder and a tyre, or a mininuke. Watch out for the myriad of other bugs its riddled with, my advice is don't put any effort into settlements as it just breaks them. Nice game but buggier than Klendathu on drop day.
Not me or you though, so it seems a bit of a pointless thing to raise really.
Look on the Brightside, when that happens you'll be able to complain it took too long.
I never saw any "press 4" advice for the incident I was talking about when looking around here. The fix to get out of the menu had to do with changing focus to the engineer menu on the right side pane and doing something there. Maybe we're thinking of different bugs or my timing was off.
Regarding need vs want, the argument is semantic when the charge is that the functions didn't work as intended.
Fallout 4 really isn't my jam. Last thing I played they had their name on was 2016 Doom and then only as a publisher. Point still stands as above.
You strike again! Well done, mate. Feels good, yeah?
2016 Doom and then only as a publisher
Its not a charge though is it. Its just a few inevitable teething bugs that will always occur with any new software going live and some people being unable to cope with that.
If it bothers you give it a week or two for hot fixing before trying new patches.
I'm not following the goalposts over there.
That's why it wasn't a buggy mess. Bethesda developed games are notoriously bad.

...Read up on emotional contagion, talking to me is probably good for you.

Don't play the game you want to play seems like advice designed to increase exasperation. Some bugs are more impactful and thus worse than others. And impact in a game with this many choices is subjective. I'm not telling you you have to care about the bugs that heavily affect me.
