Amazingly Realistic Immersion Mod

Very good job guys. Does it make any changes in galax map? Ireally need a galaxy map mode which can remove the dust and unnecessary light from the core.

just a heads up, the plasma accelerator's particle now looks very cool without the very bright look of it! it now actually looks like what you'd expect from a plasma accelerator. idk what it does to torpedoes yet, haven't tried

I don't like it and I don't think it is realistic at all.
Even to the naked eye in the night sky you can clearly see the milky way and the main nebulas, not to mention if you go ouside the atmosphere.

You can customize everything.

You're not obligated to take off everything. In my case, I'm using the mod only to take off "space dust" in super cruise and the HUD's speed lines in super cruise. Everything else is vanilla.

So I downloaded and followed the steps completely multiple times. I'm on the right version of 3d. None of the settings are taking effect. I'm using Oculus as a launcher instead of steam if that helps at all. Everything seems to be copied to all of the right directories :p
Help

Is there a shader that does reflections? I'd like to turn them off for better performance, but I suppose that's probably done in opengl/directx.

You can turn down the environment map resolution to reduce the quality of reflections.

Is there a way to not fully turn off the core?

I haven't tried Duck's mod, but "MilkyWayInstancesCount", "MilkywayInstancesBrightness", and "MilkywayInstancesSize" control the number, intensity, and size of the individual elements that make up the milky way and the galactic haze. They can be copied from the GalaxyMap settings and tuned to taste in the GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml.

Example:
XML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<GraphicsConfig>
    <GalaxyMap>
        <High>
            <MilkyWayInstancesCount>24000</MilkyWayInstancesCount>
            <MilkywayInstancesBrightness>0.5</MilkywayInstancesBrightness>
            <MilkywayInstancesSize>0.75</MilkywayInstancesSize>
        </High>
    </GalaxyMap>
</GraphicsConfig>

Yes, using those settings you can make the galaxy massive in terms of the depth of the galactic plane, so the dust etc is much brighter and (unrealistically) tall above and below the plane. I'll see if I can find a screengrab of it.

I think to get the crazy galactic core in my image I used these pretty random values:
20000
5.1
1.9

It's like being inside a nebula, the strands and dust are almost all around.

I'm trying to get this to work on Radeon RX Vega 56 under Steam Proton and the dust shader hash changes from system to system:
Code:
8aa88fcf6a66b7e3
91085e5f288c147d
473e4ad6b4c7ce26
4db942934cad0b29
Can anyone confirm that the 4db942934cad0b29 hash which is provided with the mod is constant on your machine and never changes between various star systems?

UPD: As far as I testing it (done about 10 jumps) it seems like these 4 values are enough to catch the dust on my machine as they are just alternating between each other.

Off-topic: Is there a way to also decrease the size of the stars? For some reason on my system they are pretty fat.

The fog in the belts in VR causes a lot of lag. Will this mod help with that problem?
I do not know, because fog doesn't cause me problems unless I'm mining. I have discovered turning off certain shaders does indeed help performance. For example, hash 54f9383e5a4f43a8 will turn off cast shadows in rings, and I see a noticeable performance buff in VR when mining or engaging in RES. This is different than just turning off shadows in settings, because it only affects asteroids, allowing me to keep ultra shadows for my ship, stations, etc.

It doesn't cause lag for me but I'm lucky I have a beast system.. I would love to see it gone though like it used to be.

Are you talking about the in-ship menu UI?

On the attached photo, the whiteness of the Cutter's panel washes out the UI. If that UI panel was 100% opaque to the background, the problem would be gone.

And yes, I've tried other UI colors, it does not significantly help the problem.

The "interior lights off" option for the immersion mod helps fix this, but comes with other issues that would be nice to avoid.
