Elite Dangerous (Steam) just set a new All Time record for concurrent CMDRs, beating previous highest in Nov 2015

It has been explained numerous times, also in this thread:
  • We're still hoping for the kickstarter-promised things, so we're checking on here. Hope dies last.
  • Recent carrier commotion again painfully proves (to us at least) that fdev is disconnected from its own game gives us a platform to vent
  • we have been told numerous times that "steam charts don't count" by the Whities, so it's karma time.
Btw. this argument about steam users is flawed in my humble opinion. When I can choose steam I choose steam for convenience and fret if I can't. All of my gaming friends prefer steam as it's an established gaming library. Of course it's anecdotal evidence, but so is saying that non-steam users are legion. FDev only knows.
I only launch 1 of my 3 accounts from steam (my mistake as I activated it too late to have its own launcher!) So steam stats serve really as an indication rather than hard evidence of success or otherwise. Without other metrics to measure by, it has to serve as an illustration.

Hope may die last, indeed, but I'd have thought common-sense would permit a person to not indulge themselves in something that is lacking satisfaction.

My opinion on FC's is at odds with the players who consider their creation 'proves' the developers at out-of-touch with the playerbase, so naturally I wouldn't berate them for introducing a feature that currently I couldn't use anyway as they have been designed for players with huge amounts of credits and nothing to spend them on. Others have their own opinions, which is as it should be.

If there actually is a 10 year plan, we are only half-way, they have another 5 years to introduce any content they have promised to include. Did they actually make solid promises in the kickstarter for content or suggest they would consider inclusion? I missed the opportunity to join in simply because of massive work commitments over a few years helping me lose touch with the gaming scene at the time it was active.

You know what I bet helped fuel that? Half Life Alyx. Even on forums that have nothing to do with Space Sims, ED comes up whenever people talk about immersive VR experiences. I bet all those headsets people bought are drawing folks into this game to see what the fuss is all about. =D

I'm glad. I think everyone who even remotely enjoys sci-fi should be able to experience ED in VR at least once. It's truly is an amazing thing.

Speaking of Steam, anybody having trouble connecting right now? I can't get in!

I couldn't connect last night.

Looks like its midnight uk time.. was there an update?

Guess there's no problems, they all probably had a relaxing long weekend.

Relating to the thread.. i completely didn't connect that you need the steam client for beta. Well that explains everything, how can it be anything else? People came back for the beta. Happens every time.

These charts seem to indicate that any previous crying of "game is dying" was clearly wrong 🤷‍♂️
Its always wrong...until it isn't
"Suuure, the previous dozen times I was comically wrong about the game dying any day now, but this time I'm correct!"

I am a non-steam player. I might be the only one left

Noone actually cares that the game is dieing apart from white knights.

To anyone to isn't a white knight, its saying the game is crap, better get on to fixing it. Fights only start when the hostiles get involved.

EDIT: Because white knights must see everything as halo religion perfect, and a feature sucks == game is dying.... which also makes sense because if its not perfect the game would be dead to those white knights. Eh, everyone is as they are, nice and colorful.

Who are these white knights you keep referring to? I assume you wouldn't be foolish enough to include me considering my many years of constructive criticism :D

I wasnt thinking that at all not once have you thought (or said :p) any similar about me, i hope the rest of your day is very nice. And we get an update :)

Im laughing tbh. Surely this spike in numbers shows that the silent majority agrees with carrier upkeep. Even more than they agreed with the FSS apparently.

Its even worse, people are anchoring on good faith expectations that it will be improved, just like the fss.

Its always a new go :)

I mean if frontier said upfront its not going to change like that i wouldnt be bothered mining grinding right now...

That's quite the broken logic you have there.

I dont see them on the forum, i dont see a great many complaints. Just a small vocal minority complaining bitterly about carriers which obviously arnt for every player.

Wow really? I didnt realise anybody thought there was going to be any more to the FSS.

I did.

collapses into tears

I was a noob :(((((((((

..... so many people are going to be in for a rude awakening. With the fss all we were asking for was a relative bit (binary digit) to be changed compared to peoples demand lists for carriers. We didnt even... lol

Sorry if this has been answered but, does that include Beta numbers?
Steam launches E: D launcher from which you select beta or whatnot, so yes it does include Beta numbers. The only way it wouldn't include these number would be Beta being a separate product on steam. This also means that it includes horizons and non-horizons players together if anyone was wondering.
