I most definitely appreciate your taking the time to thoughtfully respond to my post and wanted to address the statements you made. Firstly on the Michael Brooks statement you will find no recording of it but I have been told by 3 sources that they heard Brooks say it at at an early Lavecon during a Q&A session that was not recorded. As there is no recording of the event (I’ve searched. Extensively) we are dealing with paraphrasing different peoples years old recollections of one statement made years ago at an event where alcohol was served. Imprecise at best... but IF as I understand it the statement was made for example that “someone has been in the system that contains Raxxla but they did not notice it” that could mean so very many things as to be practicaly meaningless. say Raxxla is on Mars which we have no way to land on as we cannot land on an atmospheric world (which mars is in Elite) But is turned off therefore gives off no interactable signal for us to find. In that way the alleged MB quote could be very true and yet we would never know. Or let’s say that Raxxla is on some hidden moon that is 900k LS off in any random direction From Mars and gives off no signal Until we find some maguffin device elsewhere and bring it into the system. And maybe that device is in a permit locked system we have not yet found. Again in this example Raxxla is right here in Sol and had thousands come and go without us really having a meaningful chance to find. These examples are just thought experiments and I’m not trying to say Raxxla is in sol just proving a point. After well over 5 years of intense search as individuals we appear no closer to finding it. Hence the theory that MAYBE by working the one obvious clue (TDW) together we can trigger SOMETHING to happen which would then allow us to progress the individual aspect of the search further. As to your second point about Raxxla orbiting the 7th moon of... to correct you slightly there that’s a little off and was never part of any lore. I believe you are conflating the origin story for TDW itself. They are rumored to have a hidden base they operate out of that itself is supposed to be in orbit around the EIGHTH moon of a gas giant in an unnamed system. I hope this answers your questions and should you have any further or would like to join the search please join my discord in my forum sig below.Great idea but this might be spending resources in the wrong direction? [apologies for the vagueness of what follows, as I am going off memory (and, as one of the old '84 players, my memory isn't what it was!). I will try to find sources];
A few years ago, Micheal Brookes whilst he was still heavily involved in ED, stated (and I don't think he was pulling our collective legs?) that a player CMDR had already been in the system that contained Raxxla (but had not found Raxxla itself) i.e. they had gone in, 'honked' and moved on. This may have been mentioned at FX17(?) and there may be a record of it - I will try to find the source...
Also, Raxxla's location is (on?) the moon of the ringed 7th planet in a system [again from memory]. I'm sure Drew, or some other 'lore keeper', can confirm it's true lore location.
So;
- if we found the date of the Michael Brookes statement,
- found out what systems had been visited by players at that time,
- confined this down to those system that have moons around their 7th (?) ringed planet,
- send everyone to this system to investigate...!
Still a lot of work, I know, but if the system has already been visited by a player, if does not sit behind a permit that is impossible to obtain. Indeed, it may not need a permit at all?
Whilst pushing The Dark Wheel in to Sol (if this is possible) will, I'm sure, trigger something, the system that contains Raxxla has already been found (well, visited at least!).
