Great idea but this might be spending resources in the wrong direction? [apologies for the vagueness of what follows, as I am going off memory (and, as one of the old '84 players, my memory isn't what it was!). I will try to find sources];

A few years ago, Micheal Brookes whilst he was still heavily involved in ED, stated (and I don't think he was pulling our collective legs?) that a player CMDR had already been in the system that contained Raxxla (but had not found Raxxla itself) i.e. they had gone in, 'honked' and moved on. This may have been mentioned at FX17(?) and there may be a record of it - I will try to find the source...

Also, Raxxla's location is (on?) the moon of the ringed 7th planet in a system [again from memory]. I'm sure Drew, or some other 'lore keeper', can confirm it's true lore location.

So;
  • if we found the date of the Michael Brookes statement,
  • found out what systems had been visited by players at that time,
  • confined this down to those system that have moons around their 7th (?) ringed planet,
  • send everyone to this system to investigate...!

Still a lot of work, I know, but if the system has already been visited by a player, if does not sit behind a permit that is impossible to obtain. Indeed, it may not need a permit at all?

Whilst pushing The Dark Wheel in to Sol (if this is possible) will, I'm sure, trigger something, the system that contains Raxxla has already been found (well, visited at least!).
I most definitely appreciate your taking the time to thoughtfully respond to my post and wanted to address the statements you made. Firstly on the Michael Brooks statement you will find no recording of it but I have been told by 3 sources that they heard Brooks say it at at an early Lavecon during a Q&A session that was not recorded. As there is no recording of the event (I’ve searched. Extensively) we are dealing with paraphrasing different peoples years old recollections of one statement made years ago at an event where alcohol was served. Imprecise at best... but IF as I understand it the statement was made for example that “someone has been in the system that contains Raxxla but they did not notice it” that could mean so very many things as to be practicaly meaningless. say Raxxla is on Mars which we have no way to land on as we cannot land on an atmospheric world (which mars is in Elite) But is turned off therefore gives off no interactable signal for us to find. In that way the alleged MB quote could be very true and yet we would never know. Or let’s say that Raxxla is on some hidden moon that is 900k LS off in any random direction From Mars and gives off no signal Until we find some maguffin device elsewhere and bring it into the system. And maybe that device is in a permit locked system we have not yet found. Again in this example Raxxla is right here in Sol and had thousands come and go without us really having a meaningful chance to find. These examples are just thought experiments and I’m not trying to say Raxxla is in sol just proving a point. After well over 5 years of intense search as individuals we appear no closer to finding it. Hence the theory that MAYBE by working the one obvious clue (TDW) together we can trigger SOMETHING to happen which would then allow us to progress the individual aspect of the search further. As to your second point about Raxxla orbiting the 7th moon of... to correct you slightly there that’s a little off and was never part of any lore. I believe you are conflating the origin story for TDW itself. They are rumored to have a hidden base they operate out of that itself is supposed to be in orbit around the EIGHTH moon of a gas giant in an unnamed system. I hope this answers your questions and should you have any further or would like to join the search please join my discord in my forum sig below. 😁

Me, waiting for the source

I have spoken with 3 sources who were in the room and whom I trust who have corroborated this statement. Ben Moss Woodward and Souvarine of Lave Radio and Sagittarius-Eye Magazine. And Ascorbius of the Brocast. I ABSOLUTELY believe when they tell me the statement was made that it was I just wish I had a recording for the EXACT wording as MB was known for being clever and saying a true statement that the listener would misinterprete and tie themselves in knots over when he wanted to. As my above examples indicate. You can make a statement that someone has been in the system Raxxla was in and didn’t notice it knowing people will assume one guy honked and jumped without noticing it and yet the truth is thousands have been in system with it hundreds of times and not noticed it because it is at this time not interactable...

In my four years in the game, this is the first time I have ever had a name put with this statement. If you can get one of those three people to go on record, that would be interesting.

It's because so many people assume Raxxla is a planet.

Souvarine said it ON RECORD when I interviewed him for LSP. Ben Moss Woodward said it on record when I interviewed him for LSP. Both of which you can download and listen to. Ascorbius said it ON RECORD on his show yesterday when I talked to him about this project for Brocast. It’s one of the links directly above. For ease of searching here is the exact moment of the clip where he went on record. He made the statement and I started to caution him the it’s a statement often repeated but no video exists and he said he was there and saw it said himself.

Kai, thanks for your measured response.

I totally agree with you, Michael Brookes was well known to be a little 'tangential' with his statements (that's what we loved about him!). However, at the time, I believed him (and still do). If I find the source, I'm sure to post it here.

And I certainly wouldn't class myself as one of the inner circle of Elite and so Michael must have made the statement in a more open setting. I didn't go to Lavecon and so Ascorbius must have heard Micheal say it at a separate time to me. So, if Michael was trolling us (which I doubt), he did it multiple times! Again, if my (failing!) memory serves, I seem to remember it here, on this forum (before the changeover to the new forum system, so it could be long lost by now).

Keep up the good work!

War against Fong Wang Limited in LFT 926 was concluded. The Dark Wheel faction has won!
Thanks to all who help in LFT 926.
...
Now to focus on INF missions and doing things to lower the INF of opposing factions. I know how to raise influence for TDW but I am unsure how to effectively lower it for the others.
Destroy or attack their clean ships. Note that this may be incompatible with being able to dock at the stations to pick up missions for TDW so it may be useful for each individual to pick one or the other.

Smuggling illegal goods into their stations will also help, though probably not very much.

I wouldn't bother with negative actions except against Green Party at this stage - negative actions against a low influence faction are likely to benefit the Geen Party more than they benefit you, and the natural consequence of raising TDW influence will be to lower all the others anyway.

YES TDW won the war in LFT 926. Now we need all people with Access to Shinrarta Dezhra to do INF+++++ missions for TDW in that system. We are testing if it is possible to expand TDW OUT OF SHINDEZ despite people saying it can not be done. One point of interest is that it was already done once before whennTDW expanded from SHINDEZ to LFT 926. For those who do not have access to SHINDEZ please work INF+++++ in LFT926 but the main focus should be SHINDEZ. It’s quite hard to push the needle there so we need everyone to pull together! 😁

Well, the obvious thing is to ask Michael Brookes to confirm or deny this attribution. 🙂

That's very interesting. Two things of note, though. 1) He says he was "there" when "Michael Brooks said it." But earlier he says "Frontier" and "they said it." Maybe nothing to it, just seemed interesting that he was conflating a single employee and the whole company. 2) If this really was during a Q&A why has it taken so long for this to come out. Why aren't there other people confirming it?

Last thing, you say in the video that the two Lave radio chaps "heard that it was said." So that's now second hand heresay. Or did I misunderstand and they actually heard it? Either way, even with CMDR Ascorbious' attestation, it's still heresay. By no means am I calling him into question, but it's not enough for me. And frankly, besides the point, but - even if it is true, it isn't helpful in the search.

He never conflated anything there my friend. He is completely correct when saying that Michael Brookes who was an enployee of Frontier and appearing there at Lavecon as an official representative of the company made a statement, in that contect it is both true that HE and THEY (Frontier) made the statement.

With regard to Ben and Souvarine I was NOT saying that they heard it talked about by someone else They both told me that they heard it from MB himself at the same event, just to clarify. That is not heresay that is the very definition of an Eye witness to the event. Sorry if my explanation was not clear on that point.
