He never conflated anything there my friend. He is completely correct when saying that Michael Brookes who was an enployee of Frontier and appearing there at Lavecon as an official representative of the company made a statement, in that contect it is both true that HE and THEY (Frontier) made the statement.
Eh, it's splitting hairs for sure, but I don't think it's fair to take a single employees remarks at a Q&A session at a fan event and then parse that out as "the company speaking." But either way, I am grateful to be able to put this to bed as to where this whole "someone's been there but only honked and kept going" thing came from!

With regard to Ben and Souvarine I was NOT saying that they heard it talked about by someone else They both told me that they heard it from MB himself at the same event, just to clarify. That is not heresay that is the very definition of an Eye witness to the event. Sorry if my explanation was not clear on that point.
No worries on the clarity. I understand now...but again, it's still heresay. Sorry. They are telling you what they heard. If we're going to talk about the "very definition" of things, well, that's the very definition of heresay. Conversation relayed to a party not involved in it. They may be eyewitnesses to it, but you - and by extension, us - are not.

well played sir. you have convinced me. next step is for you to go get MB on the record. With your tenacity and eye to details I am assured of your resounding success!

On this whole alleged statement about someone having already passed through the Raxxla system, all I'll say is that there are many apocryphal statements about Elite, many of which are remembered (but with no actual reference that anyone can lay their hands on) by more reliable sources than claim to have seen the Sex Pistols at the 100 Club. And yes, I too have heard the rumour that it's been visited but also have no reliable source other than a bunch of other semi-reliable sources. Such is the myth of Raxxla! 😆 Personally I don't like to believe that David is a liar so in some sense, yes, I'm sure it's "in the game" ... but I suspect that's little more than a reference to a bit of data, some boolean flag or set of coordinates in a table that says "this is the location of Raxxla". I don't believe there's anything to see (yet) ... and indeed, fervently hope there isn't since nothing could possibly live up to expectation. That's not to say I don't love this project tho ... I'm all for actually testing the boundaries of what's possible and for showing FD that we still care about the story in Elite.

Actually, I do have one long held, almost entirely silly idea about where the entrance to Raxxla is if it's in the game right now. It's supposed to be a gateway to another universe or dimension right? Well ... if you press Escape and look at the last option on the menu .... where do you think that takes you? 😉

No need to get testy, CMDR. You believe it - and that's fine! It's just that...for us old warhorses that have been at it for years, well, the enthusiasm starts to wane.

Anyhow...back on topic....expanding The Dark Wheel out of Shinny D. My best to you all!

We are testing if it is possible to expand TDW OUT OF SHINDEZ despite people saying it can not be done
The BGS lock on Shinrarta is not of a type which prevents outbound expansion, and the expansion to LFT 926 was more recent than the last relevant change to the expansion rules, so I'd say someone already tested that about 18 months ago, and that the burden of proof would be on anyone claiming the contrary to explain what's changed to make it impossible (as opposed to merely difficult to hit 75%) now.

(Similarly, Jaques hasn't expanded from Colonia since before the 3.3 release. It's not that it's no longer possible, it's that the circumstances which would allow it no longer naturally arise from passing traffic.)

Now we need all people with Access to Shinrarta Dezhra to do INF+++++ missions for TDW in that system
The diminishing returns curve affects each activity type separately - you'll get better results if as well as missions you also do the other positive activities:
- trade only to TDWs surface ports
- UC sales only to TDW's surface ports
- handing in only TDW bounties at any local port

fair play. I would point out that the 3 people listed are sort of pillars of the community and if they say they heard it DIRECTLY and in person I would give them the benefit of the doubt on it but yeah you're right I got a little snippy with my response and for that you're owed an apology. Sorry.

I have spoken with 3 sources who were in the room and whom I trust who have corroborated this statement. Ben Moss Woodward and Souvarine of Lave Radio and Sagittarius-Eye Magazine. And Ascorbius of the Brocast. I ABSOLUTELY believe when they tell me the statement was made that it was I just wish I had a recording for the EXACT wording as MB was known for being clever and saying a true statement that the listener would misinterprete and tie themselves in knots over when he wanted to. As my above examples indicate. You can make a statement that someone has been in the system Raxxla was in and didn’t notice it knowing people will assume one guy honked and jumped without noticing it and yet the truth is thousands have been in system with it hundreds of times and not noticed it because it is at this time not interactable...

I always assumed...key word, there 'assumed' that MB may have said, someone 'could' have been in a system with Raxxla in it. That is easily changed to 'had' or'did', especially when we are talking about word of mouth and the individuals involved were drinking too.

That said, it doesn't change this project in any way.

1. Completely agree
2. God how I wish there were even bad cell phone footage of this just so we had a CLEARLY worded statement to scrutinize!

so , what's the plan now.

YES TDW won the war in LFT 926. Now we need all people with Access to Shinrarta Dezhra to do INF+++++ missions for TDW in that system. We are testing if it is possible to expand TDW OUT OF SHINDEZ despite people saying it can not be done. One point of interest is that it was already done once before whennTDW expanded from SHINDEZ to LFT 926. For those who do not have access to SHINDEZ please work INF+++++ in LFT926 but the main focus should be SHINDEZ. It’s quite hard to push the needle there so we need everyone to pull together! 😁

Souvarine said it ON RECORD when I interviewed him for LSP. Ben Moss Woodward said it on record when I interviewed him for LSP. Both of which you can download and listen to. Ascorbius said it ON RECORD on his show yesterday when I talked to him about this project for Brocast. It’s one of the links directly above. For ease of searching here is the exact moment of the clip where he went on record. He made the statement and I started to caution him the it’s a statement often repeated but no video exists and he said he was there and saw it said himself.

Great work!

I would absolutely support YOU in your mission to secure a recorded interview with Michael Brookes to RECONFIRM what he already said at a Q&A event at Lavecon 2017! I look forward to your eventual success on this matter.

My mission is to find Raxxla and gain membership of The Dark Wheel, not to chase rumours.
However, the forum mechanism wouldn’t allow me to PM Michael Brookes directly to ask him to confirm or deny whether he was the source of the statement that a player had been in the system containing Raxxla but hadn’t noticed it. So I have sent the PM to Stephen Benedetti to ask him or Michael to provide clarification directly in this thread. 🙂

I note that the statement gives us no clue to the location of Raxxla, however confirmation that Michael did indeed say it would move this rumour from the status of hearsay to strong evidence, and would indirectly confirm that Raxxla is findable in game and is not permit locked or even hidden as a comment in the game source code.

I have reached out to Mike through other means and all he can say is "No Comment" I would ask that no one else bugs him about this since non of us want to make Frontier staffers feel uncomfortable.

That's not entirely true.

If the statement is correct that Raxxla is in a system which has had at least one player visit before June 2017, then this implies one of two things.

1) Given the number of systems in the galaxy, and the number of explored systems by June 2017, CMDRs collectively beat odds greater than 5000:1 to happen across its system by chance.

2) Raxxla is positioned close to the bubble or another obvious POI making early discovery more likely. This implies that as there's been much more exploration carried out since June 2017 than before it that there's a good chance that there have been other CMDR visitors to the system since, who also haven't noticed it, or there will be in the near future.

Obviously of the two scenario '2' is much more likely, which implies it's fairly well concealed (by various methods) even to someone carrying out 'normal' exploration activities in the system (which would have been easier pre-FSS than post-FSS)

Why are we focused on expansion to Sol, and not Delphi?

It's notable that Delphi in mythology was the "centre of the world," and is directly linked with TDW through the rumours of the Omphalos Rift. Additionally, Delphi was renamed at the same time as the addition of TDW and Raxxla to the Knowledge Base.

Not to mention, TDWs (or CEIP) human-thargoid experimentation in Soontill, the thargoid connection in Delphi seems worth investigation
