"Sergeant! Four pips to shield." ... no answer.
"SERGEANT!"
His beam laser rifle was overheated. Snow was melting and vaporizing instantly just to immediately returning to snow as it froze in the deadly cold winds.
The whiteout blizzard on the ice world of LHS 417 2 tricked the brain into going to sleep. The 2.37G world made every move an exhausting endeavor of pain, even with the exoskeleton servos to help. Every step cracked the ice and snow beneath their feet. The sound it made stayed with them forever.
The surface temperature of 437K at the equator made everything slippery steaming water. The rain that fell on them at their more northern positions instantly froze to ice and snow causing the whiteout blizzards. This was a horrible place. But humans need conflict. It is in their blood. On their minds. Driven by greed, honor and glory.

Awesome little story, just one thing bothering me: 473 Kelvin isn't exactly cold...just change it to 47,3K

;)

Equator is super heated causing vapor. At the poles it freeze again causing the blizzard like whiteouts. It is a world of great contrast. It is hell.

Awesome! then the planet radious would need to be massive and rotation quite small, it would have super strong winds and tornadoes in mid-latitudes due to the Coriolis effect combined with the extreme temperature gradient..I love it!

What's even more curious is that the clouds of the planet would need to be quite unique because H2O wouldn't condense at such high temeperatures and it would also prevent such a contrast from happening, also the planet must absorb crazy amounts of infrared radiation in order to reach such surface tempertures, perhaps CO2 clouds will do such as the ones in Venus...

Yep, extra content for Griefers and Gankers, expect as you little squad crew of 3 leaves your ship or multicrew SRV , that a Griefer mows you all down with multicannons from 200m above, safely in their Krait mk2.
Not really I would imagine they will have armistice zones around bases and land bases.

If we cant have a revolver and a long brown trench coat, I will be very unhappy.

Cant wait for 2021 been waiting this since the launch in 2014 :D

Negative, run into it! Ramming does absolute damage and his hull is engineered!

Yes. I wonder if this will be a thing at all. Until further notice I'm going to assume this is essentially a person-shaped SRV, with all the same attendant limitations and caveats. If they have zero-G activity or in-ship activity or ship boarding or any kind of seamless avatar navigation working right now, I would have expected them to use some of it in their trailer, because the type of activity they do demonstrate in the trailer is extremely cookie cutter generic.

Hmm...

If it's Pre-Alpha, that'd be some understandable lack of Detailing IMHO.
We'll have to see how this works out.

I just don't get why people whine about paying for DLC; look at the amount of extra content we're getting.
This is a significant bulk of extra brand new features that the developers at Frontier have poured themselves into.
Do you complain when you have to pay for sequels of a movie? How should this be treated any differently?
I for one would be glad to give them money based on the promise that they will deliver.

I'd better be able to finally walk around my damn ships!

I'd like to remember (if it hasn't been stated already) that Horizons was Elite's last paid DLC, and took a long time to fully release in stages. The first was being able to land on planets, and then engineers, and then all the other stuff they've added. Space legs is a nice feature, but i'm not going to bad mouth the game if at first it's space legs and atmospheric landings only, before any of the other 'leaked' stuff comes to pass. If they spent 2 years re-modeling the engine, i'm happy for that... as long as I get to change my hud colors officially. lol

Every cmdr needs to stretch their legs after a long journey. Imagine the atmosphere doing the Guardian sites on foot? Or landing on a distant planet that you discovered and getting out of your ship for a stroll? Come on cmdr, get excited!

Oh yea.
I just imagined me aiming a pea-shooter at a big ugly Guardian Drone.

Come on guys, you already seeing the Hoth battle happening all over again?

Can't wait to learn more because even though it confirms space leg it's hard to see what will be the real gameplay linked to it (exploration, ship interaction, etc.)

New tech for planets...nice ! Can't wait for those dev diary !!!

Glad to see Frontier planting some kind of flag for what this update was going to be. I am looking forward to it, to see what it will be about. What I am concerned with is the implementation, particularly things like PVP, missions, reasons to HAVE space legs. I don't play much these days because the amount of time it takes to do 'something' is so extensive...and my time really is that short.
