ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carrier Update - Game Maintenance

Unfortunately, this is not true. I had 15 missions and 14 of them ready to share. Now the money for the materials is gone and I am unpopular with my group. Too bad.
This is only for correction.

Cruiser-One

If you hadn't shared them yet, then you hadn't claimed them. You just had completed them. You are in the same situation as I am.

I won't mince words, FD get your act together, you're infuriating your customer base.

All in all this is probably the best update in terms of cohesion and communication that I have ever seen in existing memory. The patch in January and last summer was way more of a disaster than this and it only added patch notes, there were no fleet carriers.

So for fleet carriers to be added and only have a few things go wrong is not bad at all!

What about the Black Adder error code when trying to purchase a FC? I just bought 750+ tons of tritium and am not looking to go station to station trying my luck again in this boat unless the issue is resolved.

Indeed - expired missions will be accounted for.
You may have compensated us with credits, but I just logged in and (as expected) got a whole bunch of insta-failed missions. My rep with the minor faction has dropped accordingly. I hope the BGS work I did between patches still had an effect and wasn't also reverted.

Altogether the passenger missions were worth in the neighborhood of 320 million

I didn't know that the update would wipe out missions. Before the update I was carrying several passenger cabins from Colonia to the Sol Bubble and back. I had arrived in the Sol bubble and had visited a few of the tourist locations. I was trying to complete a couple of missions who were both needing the beacon for "size matters". I was in the progress of figuring out how to find it for a couple of days. Some reported that they thought the beacon was bugged but since the two missions together were worth almost 100 million, I had not given up. Then the game was updated.

After the update my cabins were still full of passengers but the missions were gone. I added input to one of the issues in the issue tracker but I also read some very old ones from a year ago, or so, that the problem happened then too. I also read that many players knew this was expected. So I ended up scuttling the ship so that I could continue to play.

My question is, did that prevent me from collecting any compensation for losing the missions? I read a few minutes ago that we were to be compensated for an average amount of the missions we had. I don't see any extra money on my balance or any messages that I received compensation. Did we still have to have the passengers on board for that to happen or is there another reason why I missed out on the compensation?

update: I think I misread who they were intending to compensate. If I understand it correctly, they compensated those who had accepted missions after the update but were then canceled because of the maintenance. Is there any plan to compensate those who had accepted missions before the main update but had the missions removed after the update was complete?

update 2: Never mind. I see the missions have been restored. I guess I will just need to switch back to my passenger ship and the passenger cabins will be full again I hope. I had switched to a scout ship after I scuttled the ship.

UPDATE - 18:21 UTC
Players whose missions were cancelled due to being accepted after the update have had credits added to their balance based on average reward for each mission type as compensation.

Missions
Some Commanders had their missions removed unexpectedly. This especially affected Commanders undertaking longer missions. We will restore missions from before the update to minimise the impact on players. Due to the structure of the missions system, this means that any missions taken after the update will disappear. We'll implement this in a way to make this as fair as possible - more details will be shared on this after the maintenance.

Thank you for all your feedback! Please continue to use the Issue Tracker and sharing any new issues on the Known Issues thread.

Thanks for your understanding,

The Elite Dangerous Team

Well done with regards to the indemnification of lost accepted missions post update yesterday due to rollback with current patch.
At last as promised a fair trade.

Thank you FDev and let's hope we now can focus on the many improvements and new luxury toys deployed with this long awaited update instead of bugs and errors!

And what about missions from prior to the main patch that were restored with the latest server fix and accordingly timed out. These all insta-failed on login. Did that have a negative effect on the BGS (some of us are trying to help a minor faction)?

It was well known by all that the fleet carrier cargo capacity of 25k was in addition to the carrier services capacity. At least thats what we were told. If thats not the case then how the hell are we supposed to have any sevices installed and store enough tritium to get across the galaxy? Please rectify this asap.

Just a little bit of perspective here. I'm not sure what other games or experiences other people may have had, but I've been gaming for right around 25 years or more and have yet to ever encounter a game that launches perfectly with no bugs, or a major update that's completely free from problems and issues.

Given how this update has progressed from the start, I would say that this is the best update that fdev has had yet, with the most pre launch testing I've seen, the most collaboration between players and devs, and the best communication overall in regards to what is going on. Those of us who were here for the disaster that was the September patch can surely appreciate the improvement - that patch didn't even have the slightest bit of regression testing, just short of broke the game completely, and the way that fdev responded to that mess was mediocre at best.

I, for one, can appreciate that they have seemed to learned from their mistake and appreciate the vast improvement that they have made.

Sure, there's still improvement to be made: better interactions and response to feedback from the community and most annoyingly, player groups, expanding upon that, treating all player groups fairly and equitably rather than playing favorites and giving special treatment to certain groups and players, bringing back galnet and restoring "life" to the galaxy again would be a huge bonus, and bringing back community goals / interstellar initiatives so player groups can actually accomplish things that inexplicably requires a community goal to do, and creating community goals for the factions who you have promised community goals to, perhaps on 3 separate occasions with 3 separate promises of "we'll get it going for you after this date/patch/whatever" before ditching community goals completely (but not before making sure that you're favorites get hooked up first, of course).... Yeah definitely a lot of improvements in how they treat the community can be made (or made up for)...

But in regards to the patch, give them some credit, they have handled this patch far better than any in the past, and seem to finally be on par with industry standards in regards to software updates, beta and regression testing, and the handling of bugs that arise from the patch.

It's pretty much a universal rule of any game to not expect to be able to do anything important or critical on patch day. I'm really surprised at the outrage and shock over bugs after a major patch to this software. It's like some people here have never used software before, or ever dealt with a major update ever. If that's the case, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is pretty normal for pretty much every piece of software ever, gaming or otherwise. Even MS office has had some really, really bad patches, oh and let me tell you a little story about an operating system called "windows"...
